2 Ranch hosted their seventh Red Brangusand Red Angus Junior Jackpot Futurity on April19, 2008 at the J.B. Wells Multipurpose ShowFacility in Gonzales, Texas. This futurity attractedmembers of the American Junior Red BrangusAssociation and the Junior Red AngusAssociation of America.
Katy Knox of LaPorte, Texas exhibited thegrand champion female. She was awarded$4,000 for the top spot. Exhibitorof the reserve grand champi-on won $1,500.
Division champions inthe jackpot were awarded$1,000 and reserve divisionwinners earned $500 each. Eachclass winner received $200 and sec-ond place class winners received $75.
Showmanship winners in both the seniorand junior divisions were presented a belt buck-le and a check for $1,500. Reserve in each divi-sion won $500.
More than $16,000 in prize money was paidto the junior exhibitors who participated in thefuturity.
Jim Williams served as judge of the futurityand the showmanship contest. He also conduct-ed an extensive hands-on showmanship clinic.

Except for those stated in the terms and conditions below, there areno warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantabilityor fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle beingsold at this auction.The warranties and guarantees set forth in theseTerms and Conditions are in lieu of all other warranties, eitherexpressed or implied, and the remedies provided herein shall be thesole and exclusive remedy for the buyer, or any party through thebuyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee herein provided, andall other obligations or liabilities.A. The following terms and conditions of sale are adapted fromthose recommended for use by all members of the Red AngusAssociation of America.B. Copies of those terms and conditions of sale are available uponrequest from the Red Angus Association of America. All cattle in thissale are offered according to the laws of the State of Texas.The rightto bid, as provided under law, is reserved for all sellers unless other-wise announced.
1. BIDDING: The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as tobids, and his decision shall be final.
2. TERMS: All terms are cash or check unless satisfactory creditarrangements have been made with sale management prior to sale.
3. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the buyer assoon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the seller to see thatanimals are fed and cared for free of charge to buyer, until loaded forshipment or until the expiration of 48 hours after the sale, whichev-er occurs sooner.
4. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A transferred certificate of registrywill be furnished to the buyer for each animal.
5. HEALTH: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment, except asotherwise announced. Interstate health papers will be furnished foreach animal requiring Tuberculosis and Brucellosis tests in accor-dance with federal regulations.
6. AI/NON-OWNER BULL PERMITS: AI/Non-Owner Bull Permits shallbe furnished by the seller, at no cost to the buyer, for all females bredartificially or naturally to bulls not owned by the seller.
7. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Any changes from information of any kind inthis catalog will be announced from the auction box and suchannouncements shall take precedence.
8. BREEDING GUARANTEE: A. All animals are guaranteed by theseller to be breeders with the exception of, (1) Calves less than 12months of age.a. Animals shown by the purchaser after the sale.The breeding guar-antees, if any, shall be as agreed upon between seller and buyer.b.Gross negligence or willfulness misconduct on the part of the buyer.B.Bulls are guaranteed breeders if not allowed to run within herd untilat least 14 months of age. Any bull that either, (1) settles one-third ormore of the healthy cows he serves, (2) is the sire of 20 or more ani-mals, or (3) settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility testmade by a competent veterinarian during any six-month period of
trial (provided for in paragraph 10B of Options and Privileges ofReturn or Adjustment, in this section) shall be considered a breeder.Any guarantees with respect to the ability to freeze semen shall beby separate agreement between buyer and seller.C. Safe in Calf Females have been examined by a competent veteri-narian and are so guaranteed.D. Served females are believed to be in calf but are not so guaranteed.E. Pasture-bred females have been exposed but are not guaranteedto be safe in calf.F. Open females have not been served and are so guaranteed.
9. IDENTIFICATION: Seller offers each animal with readable tattoosor brands corresponding to its registration.
10. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT:A. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing with-in six (6) months of the sale date or not later than six (6) months afterthe animal reaches 18 months of age, with the exception of claimsinvolving defect of parentage.B. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animalmay be returned to the farm/ranch of the seller if in good conditionand complying with the health requirements of the seller’s state.Theseller shall be entitled to six months trial following the return of theanimal in which to prove the animal is a breeder. If at the end of sixmonths the seller is unable to prove the animal is a breeder, the sell-er, at the option of the buyer, shall replace the animal with anotherof equal value or refund the purchase price. The return of the fullpurchase price shall in any case be deemed full satisfaction and set-tlement. Any expenses incurred for transporting an animal claimedto be a non-breeders shall be the responsibility of the buyer; exceptthat the seller shall be responsible for transportation cost in excessof the distance between the buyer’s farm/ranch and the locationwhere the sale took place. If the seller proves the animal to be abreeder, it shall be the obligation of the buyer to take delivery of theanimal and pay all expenses incurred for transportation.C. If a female sold as safe in calf proves not be in calf, the buyer mayreceive service from the bull previously used. If the bull is not avail-able, the seller shall be obligated to make a satisfactory adjustmentto the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm/ranch ofthe seller. Any adjustment provided for herein shall absolve the sell-er from further liability, except in the case such as female proves tobe a non-breeder. If a female represented as safe in calf at time ofsale proves to have been bred to a different bull, the seller shall beobligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase priceupon return of the animal to the farm of the seller (adjustments shallnot be considered to be a breeding fee or an allocation of the pur-chase price to any unborn calf.) Any expense incurred for trans-portation shall be the responsibility of the buyer, except that theseller shall be responsible for transportation cost in excess of thedistance between the buyer’s farm/ranch and the location wherethe sale took place.
11. DEFAULT: In the event of the buyer defaults on payment, thebuyers shall be responsible for all costs, including attorney’s costs,incurred by sale management or seller in connection with collect-ing, or attempting to collect, payment due.
12: GENETIC DEFECT AND PARENTAGE GUARANTEE: A. All animalsare guaranteed by the seller not to produce calves with the follow-ing defects: DWARFISM, DOUBLE MUSCLING, PARROT MOUTH,OSTEOPERTOSIS (marble bone disease) and SYNDACTYLISM (mulefoot). The parentage of all animals bred by the seller is guaranteedto the extent that the animal is by the sire and out of the dam thatis indicated on its registration paper. These guarantees are effectivefor a period of two years from date of sale only under these condi-tions.1. The buyers shall notify the seller in writing immediately uponbirth of calf suspected of being defective or immediately afterdetermination is made that such calf is defective or if parentage issuspect or found to be in error.2. The seller, as his expense shall be permitted, and proved with rea-sonable opportunity, to obtain blood samples of alleged defectivecalf and its sire and dam for the purpose of DNA or blood type analy-sis to establish parentage. In the case of suspect parentage, the buy-ers, at his expense, shall be permitted, and provided with reasonableopportunity, to obtain samples of the animal in question and its sireand dam for the purpose of DNA or blood tope analysis to establishparentage, If sire and dam, as indi-cated on the animal’s registrationcertificate, are proven to be in errorby such analysis, seller shall reim-burse buyer for cost of analysis.3. The animals will be returned bythe buyer to the seller at the buyer’sexpense, provided the animals meetthe health requirements of the sell-er’s state.4.The replacement of an animal withanother of equal value or the refundof the purchase price in connectionwith a defect producing animal oran animal whose parentage is inerror shall be deemed full satisfac-tion and settlement.5. In the event there is a dispute as towhether or not a calf is defective, orparentage is in error, determinationrefereed to in above, shall be madeby a person or persons acceptable toboth the buyer and seller, and in theevent the buyer and seller cannotagree on the selection of such a per-son or persons then each of themshall appoint a representative tomake the determination. In the eventthat such representatives fail toagree, a third person selected by therepresentatives of the buyer and sell-er shall make the determination.
13. SELLER’S SEMEN RIGHTS: Any semen rights retained by the sell-er must be announced from the auction box at the time of the sale,if not already printed in the sale catalog.
14. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS: 1. The above terms and conditionsof sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller ofeach animal and shall be equally binding upon both. Each sale orresale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction.2. Unless specially stated herein, neither the sale management northe Red Angus Association of America shall have any liability for anyevent or occurrence related in any manner to this sale. All personswho attend the sale do so at their own risk. The seller, the owner ofthe sale facility, nor any person connected with the management ofthe sale assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents thatmay occur.
