What Independent Sector Says About Volunteer Service Hours

Independent Sector is the leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs worldwide. It is a nonpartisan consortium of about 600 organizations. Every year, Independent Sector determines the dollar value of a volunteer hour, and this number is used by the majority of charities across the country.

For 2010, a volunteer hour of service was valued at $21.36.
