Monday (3:10 PM – 5:10 PM) Chess Chess with Twin Cites Chess Club! Come learn the fundamentals of
chess, or improve your current skills. This class is open to all levels. Grades: K-5
Fee: $100
Girls on The
Run
See attached flier: Registration is handled through Girls on The
Run. Please visit www.gotrtwincities.org to register. Program will
meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Grades: 3-5

Science of Super
Powers
In Snapology's Science of Superpowers class, students explore the
world of their favorite superheroes. Students will learn about forces,
energy, gravity and problem solving as they build models inspired by
Superman, Batman, and all their favorite heroes. Experimentation and
fun are crucial components of this ‘super’ class!

Snapology’s
EPIC Minecraft
Class
Travel to the Nether with Snapology, but watch out for those creepers!
Join us as we bring Minecraft® to life using LEGO® bricks and
technology. Students will create their own world, characters, and
discover different aspects of Minecraft®, solve common game
problems, and explore different ways to build and play in the
Minecraft® world.
Grades: 1-4

Tuesday (3:10 PM – 5:10 PM) Beyblade Battles Beyblades are spinning tops that contain customizable and
interchangeable parts that are used to battle against each other to see
who can become a Beyblade champion. Do you think you have what it
takes to become a champion? Come test your skills in Beyblade
Battles. Material fees included in class fee.
Grades: 3-5

Games Galore This class is all about GAMES: athletic games, board games, computer
games, team-building games, you name it! Student voice and choice
will dictate whether this class takes place in the gym, on the
playground, or on the computer.
Grades: 1-3

Introduction to
Scratch
Learn2Code will introduce students to coding concepts using block-
based programming. In this hands-on course students build imaginative
games and animations using the Scratch drag and drop visual
programming interface. The project-based teaching methodology
builds computational thinking, inspires creativity, and hones analytical
thinking and problem solving skills. No prior coding experience
needed.
Grades: 3-5
Fee: $125
Team Sports If you love team sports such as: ships across the ocean, kickball, T-ball,
capture the flag, bean bag elimination, 3-step, medic, 3-pin, Mike ball,
and dodge ball, you will love this class! Come join this class with your
friends and make new ones. This class is also a great way to get
exercise too.

Wednesday (3:10 PM – 5:10 PM) Explore the
Spring Forest
What a perfect way to unwind at the end of the school day! Students
are welcome to join us to explore, play, and create in the Nature Acre.
We'll be observing changes in the spring forest and learning the basics
of Leave No Trace principles. This class will take place outdoors.
Please dress for the weather and expect to get dirty.
Grades: 1-5
Fee: $65
French Class will serve as an introduction to the French language and French-
speaking cultures from around the world. Alliance Française is a non-
profit French cultural center serving the Twin Cities. Instructors are
French-speakers with training and experience helping children discover
the French language. This class will be full of engaging activities
focusing on French vocabulary, grammar, and communication.

Magical,
Mystical, Unicorns
Unicorn fans, you’re in luck, because we have the perfect class for
you! We’ll make unicorns that dazzle, sparkle, and shine as we explore
a wide array of materials and techniques. We’ll draw, sculpt, and even
learn the secret recipe for making fabulous, glittery Unicorn Slime!
Grades: K-5

Minneapolis Community Education Youth Enrichment Program Policies
Health and Medical
School Health Services are not available during before or after school. Parents/guardians are responsible for notifying the
before/after school site coordinator for any special needs or medical conditions that impact their child’s health, well-being, or
involvement in activities. If your child may need to receive either prescribed or over-the counter medications while attending
before/after school programming, you must complete an authorization form before medication can be dispensed. Medication
must be in the original packaging or prescription bottle. All medication will be securely stored on-site.

Student Behavior
In order to promote a safe and engaging environment, Community Education, Youth Enrichment, a program of Minneapolis
Public Schools, conforms to the established behavior policies of the school site and the Minneapolis Public Schools Behavior
Standards and Code of Conduct (P5200). If an incident does occur, Community Education staff will notify and work with
families to develop reasonable next steps for the safety of all students and staff. This may include suspension or removal from
the program without a refund. If a student is suspended from the school day it is also a suspension from Community Education
Youth Enrichment.
After School Activities Cancellation
In the event of inclement or severe weather, the district will decide whether to cancel after school programs. In the
event of cancellations, your child’s school will contact families and notice will be posted on mpls.k12.mn.us.
*When after school classes are cancelled your child will be sent home on their end of school day bus.
Photo and Media Release
I give permission for my child to be included in video or still photographs representing Minneapolis Community Education
Youth Enrichment. Photos/images may appear in newsletters, promotional brochures, and program websites.
Walking Field Trips
I understand that WALKING field trips within one mile of school grounds are a part of participating in Community Education
programs. Necessary precautions and supervision will be provided.
Data and Survey Release
Certain data will be collected from and about participants in Community Education Programs Youth Enrichment. All
data is considered private and confidential information. The intent is for Community Education, Youth Enrichment to
evaluate program effectiveness and quality.
I give permission for my child to participate in informational surveys regarding the services provided by Minneapolis
Community Education Youth Enrichment. All findings will be combined and reported group level. This could include
the SAYO, class evaluations, focus groups, and teacher surveys.
Information may be shared with Minnesota Department of Education, school district officials, community partners, and
other person or entity authorized by federal or state law.
If you do not give permission for any of the above polices listed above, please contact the Community Education
Coordinator.
