Adancermusthavea2.0+GPA,withnomorethanonefailinggradeattheendofthecurrentschoolyear's1stSemesterandforthemostrecent6-WeekGradeCheck.

Two“D”gradeswillbeequivalenttoone“F”AdvisementandAideclasseswillnotcounttowardstheGPAcalculation

Applicantsmusthaveanupstandingdisciplinerecord.Multipledisciplineentries,especiallysuspensions,arelikelytokeepanapplicantfrombeingselected.Applicantsmusthaveoutstandingattendance.Multipleabsencesand/ortardyentries,especiallyunexcusedabsences,arelikelytokeepanapplicantfrombeingselected.Dancerswhohavebeeninprogramarerequiredtohaveallpreviousprogramfeespaidforinfulltobeeligibleforselectionatauditions.Theprogramdoesnothavetheresourcestocarryovernegativebalancesortoallownegativebalancestoaccrue.

CountyPoms-TeamSelections

•  TherewillbetwoseparateCountyPomsteams:aVarsityTeamandaJVTeam

•  Thegoalistoselectarosterof12–28dancersonVarsityand8–20dancersonJV.

•  Eachdancerisevaluatedontheirowntechnicalandperformanceability.

•  Judges,andthecoach,willdetermineifadancerhastheabilitytobeinprogramandwhichteamthedanceristechnicallyqualifiedandpreparedtocompeteon.

•  Ascoresheet/rubricisusedforjudgestoassessthetechnicalandperformanceskillsetofeachdancerauditioning.

ItispossibleforaJVdancertobeselectedtoparticipateontheVarsityGameDaySideline,butremainappointedtocompetewithJuniorVarsity.Theseselectionsareestablishedfromthejudges’recommendationsatthetimeofaudition.Thiswillbeagame-by-gameprivilege

baseduponunwaveringeffort,technicalgrowth,knowledgeofmaterial,andresilientcommitmentthroughoutthefallseason.Thisextendedprivilegecomeswithnoguaranteeofparticipationgame-to-game,anditdoesnotpromoteaJVdancertoVarsity.

AlternatepositionsmaybeappointedforVarsityorJVatthediscretionofthecoaches(atanypointandtimeoftheyear).

SkillSetRequirementThetableislistsofvariousskillsdancersneedtoachievetocompeteattheJVandVarsitylevels.ALLdancersmusthavetheabilitytoexecutetheskillslistedforJuniorVarsityintheleftcolumn.TosecureacompetitionpositiononVarsity,dancersarerequiredtoexecutetheadditionalskillslistedintherightcolumn.Acrospecialtiesarenotrequiredatthetimeoftryouts;however,ALLdancersarerequiredtoworkonobtainingacrospecialties.

COUNTYPOMS2020-2021TRYOUTSTwoseparatetryoutswilloccurforthe2020-2021season.ThefirstsetoftryoutswillbeginwithinstructionalclinicsthatstartonMonday,July27thandconcludewithanauditiononMonday,August3rd.ThefirstsetoftryoutsisvoluntaryperDCSD.Datesforthesecondsetoftryoutsisyettobedetermined.ThesecondsetoftryoutswillbescheduledtooccuraftertheCHSAAfallsportsdateofficiallybeginsandschoolisinsession.Thesecondsetoftryoutswillbethelastofferedforthe2020-2021season.Gamedaysidelineandhalftimepreparationswillbeginimmediatelyfollowingthefirstsetoftryouts.Competitionpreparationwillbetheemphasisofthesecondsetoftryouts.
