K e r r a n g !• To begin with, our main image of the band

is a medium close up of the three of them. They are in an straight pose, with no emotion, they are all wearing dark colours as if in uniform. The image looks as if it has been put In black and white with the hue changed to light blue. This gives it a cold feel and combined with their poses makes it seem synthetic and/or robotic as if it was a 1980’s retrospective throwback.

• The title is in a bold san serif font that is light blue and white to contrast nicely with the black in the picture. The white on evolution has been used to make it stand out as it is a song name from their newest album.

• Divided by a simple black line, the text is located in the right third of the double page. It follows the same colour scheme as the rest of the page with : subtitles being in light blue and normal text in black, all over a white background. The subtitles are also in capitals which makes them stand out more.

Metal HAMMER• Here, almost the same approach has been

used, except..• Their main image takes up twice the amount of

space as previous, with a group shot of 6 rather than 3 members of the band. Their poses are rather smug-looking and again, they are predominantly dressed in black.

• The title on this double page also covers both sides. It uses a san serif font that looks like it has been painted on with water colours, it has also been splattered with brown yucky looking ink (or some thing more disgusting). This is a play on “filth pigs” no doubt.

• Text on here is interesting, they have used the black space of which the band members have produced to allow them to use white lettering. This is a good example of manipulating a photo shoot to make the whole page look more dynamic.

N ME• Instead of unevenly distributing the main image,

have devoted the entire left hand page to it. The photo uses naturalistic lighting to show off the grungy feeling of the surroundings. And the band members are in very relaxed, almost lazy, poses which implies that they have the attitude that goes with the average rock band.

• The title takes up the majority of the right hand page. It is in plain black and white with the band’s logo and “super group” in bold. It has also been under and over lined to box it up, and to separate it from the text.

• The text. It is also in black and white, and has the same sort of columns and look as a newspaper. The sub-titles within and bullet pointed and in italics, in bold to make them stand out from the rest of the text.

• And slap-bang in the middle of the page there is the pull quote. Its location is important due to it being the place where a reader will glance when flicking through.
