• Detail at right depicts transom joining of Elliptical Unit using 1/2" plywood supplied by others.

• For specific instructions concerning transom joining of Casement, Awning, Flexiframe® or Circle Top™ Units to Frenchwood® Hinged Patio Doors with Double Insect Screen Track, refer to the aluminum joining instruction guide.

• Double Insect Screen Track must be installed on door before door is installed in rough opening. Double Insect Screen Track cannot be installed after unit has been installed in rough opening.

• Installation Flanges can only be used with the 5-1/4" kit in 4-1/2" walls. Attach Installation Flanges according to directions in the Frenchwood® Hinged Patio Door installation guide.

• For 6-9/16" and 7-9/16" kits, discard Installation Flanges and use backer rod and sealant to fill space between rough opening and Insect Screen Tracks. Refer to the Frenchwood® Hinged Patio Door installation guide.

1. Apply Sealant to Sill

• Place patio door, exterior side up, on a clean flat work surface.

• For Standard Units, apply a 3/16" bead of sealant to entire length of both channels on sill.

• For Units with Stormwatch® Protection, apply a 3/16" bead of silicone sealant to entire length of channel and the second rib from exterior of sill.

2. Apply Sill Extension

• Insert ridge on Sill Extension into exterior channel and rear leg behind leg on sill. Slide onto sill until flush on both ends.

• Remove excess sealant from end of unit.

• Cut 1/2" from rear leg of Sill Extension.• Insert ridge on Sill Extension into exterior channel and

rotate Sill Extension onto sill. Slide onto sill until flush on both ends.

• Trim ridges from ends of Sill Spacer approximately 1-1/4".• Apply 3/16" bead of sealant to entire length of inside

corner of ridge on Sill Spacer.• Position Sill Spacer, ridge side toward unit, and fasten

to Sill flush with interior using 1" screws or staples.

4. Seal Sill Extension (Units with Stormwatch® Protection Only)

• Apply a bead of sealant to groove between sill and Sill Extension at each end of sill. Fill groove to top of sill.

• Apply a bead of sealant to exterior side of Sill Extension Leg, extending 3/4" from each end of sill.

DO NOT plug drain hole at front of Side Jamb with sealant. A plugged drain hole will prevent the unit’s water management system from function properly.

6. Position and Secure Double Screen Tracks

• Apply a continuous 1/8" bead of sealant to both mitered ends of the Head Insect Screen Track.

• Position Head Insect Screen Track on side of Outer Frame Member and roll into place.

• Position Side Insect Screen Tracks on sides of Outer Frame Members and roll into place.

• Hold Side Insect Screen Tracks securely in place, flush with Outer Frame Member, and tight against Gasket at sill. Drill a 3/16" hole through the first wall of Door Outer Frame Member using hole in Side Insect Screen Track closest to Gasket as a guide

5. Apply Gaskets• Determine size of Gasket required for application.

For 5-1/4" kits, one segment.For 6-9/16" kits, two segments.

For 7-9/16" kits, three segments.

Insect Screen Tracks must be secured flush with door Outer Frame Member and tight against Gasket at sill. Failure to do so may cause improper fit and/or product damage.

Head Insect Screen Track

DO NOT drive pin through rivet when securing Drive Rivets. A weak bond with outer frame will result.

• Insert Drive Rivet into hole. Secure Drive Rivet by striking pin using a punch and hammer. Set flush with rivet head.

• Repeat for Head Insect Screen Track keeping miters tight.• Drill remaining holes for Side Insect Screen Tracks in Outer

Frame Members and secure using Drive Rivets.

• Remove any sealant squeeze out and clean sill where sealant will be applied.

• Apply a continuous 1/8" bead of sealant full perimeter along jamb cover groove and along interior edge of Gasket, as shown.

• Remove protective backing from Gasket. Place Gasket, adhesive side down, notch against frame, on Sill Extension ends. Make sure 3/32" of material is overlapping outside edge of Sill Extension.

• Repeat Step 5 using a second Gasket segment(s). Stack second Gasket directly on the first.

• Align Head Insect Screen Track Cover with Head Insect Screen Track. Tap Head Insect Screen Track Cover full length until firmly seated into Head Insect Screen Track, using a rubber mallet.

• Position Side Insect Screen Track Covers on Insect Screen Tracks making sure bottoms are tight against Gaskets and mitered corners are tight.

• Tap along full length of Side Insect Screen Track Covers until firmly seated into Insect Screen Tracks, using a rubber mallet.

• Fasten Insect Screen Track Covers using #6 x 3/4" Painted Screws inserted through hole in Head Insect Screen Track Cover. A 5/32" pilot hole, 1" deep, may have to be drilled through screw channel in Head Insect Screen Track Cover.

9. Fasten Sill Extension to Track Covers• Align holes in Sill Extension with groove in Side Insect

Screen Track Covers and fasten using #7 x 5/8" screws.• Apply sealant to the inside edge of Sill Extension and

Side Insect Screen Track Covers.

Spacer with notch on active side of Double Insect Screen Track. Using Active Side Insect Screen Latch Spacer as a guide, drill through Double Insect Screen Track and outer frame using a 1/8" drill bit.

• Fasten Insect Screen Latch using #8 x 1-1/2" screw.

11. Cut and Fold Drilling Template

• Cut out Drilling Template at right along solid line. Fold Template along dashed line at a 90° toward you.

• Place Drilling Template in passive side of Outer Frame Member.

• Align notch in Drilling Template with notch in door.• Using Drilling Template as a guide, drill a 1/8" hole

through Outer Frame Member.• Secure Latch Spacer and Insect Screen Latch with

#8 x 1" Screw.• Install Insect Screens according to instructions

provided with insect screen panels after door unit has been completely installed in opening.

• Install unit following hinged patio door installation guide.
