    48 New Train Cars

    Contract Amount: PHP 3,759,382,400.00

    Procurement Status: Contract signed in February 2014

    Timeline: Prototype for testing in August 2015Completion: 3-4 LRVs to be delivered monthly beginning in

    September 2015 until end of 2016.

    Project:48 brand new cars are

    in the production process.This is the real solution to long

    lines and over congestion,

    increase capacity by 66% and

    will improve headway to 2.5

    minutes.

    Automatic Fare Collection System

    Contract Amount: No government expenditure; Premium payment

    of PHP 1,088,103,900.00 to government

    Procurement Status: Concession Agreement signed March 2014Timeline: Implementation Ongoing

    Completion: September 2015 for all three lines

    Project:A tap-and-go ticketing

    system to unify LRT-1, LRT-2,and MRT-3 for passenger

    convenience. This will lessen

    queuing time for tickets and

    allow seamless transfers

    between lines.

    Ancillary Systems

    Budget: PHP 870,000,000.00

    Procurement Status: Ongoing bid

    Timeline: Implementation to begin Jan 2015Operational: 4thQuarter 2015

    Project: Upgrade MRT-3 to

    effectively integrate the 48 newcars by upgrading power sub-

    stations, depot facilities for

    parking, construct North Ave.

    turnback, and Taft pocket track

    extension.

    Signaling System

    Budget: PHP 184,709,302.00

    Procurement Status: Under negotiation (proprietary item)

    Timeline: To be procured September 2014Completion: 1stPhase: 1stQuarter 2015

    2nd Phase: 4thquarter 2015

    Project:Upgrade signaling

    system and computersoftware. This will improvethe MRT-3 operations

    reliability as well as enhance

    passenger safety.

    Rail Replacement

    Budget: PHP 119,472,000.00

    Procurement Status: To begin 4thQuarter 2014

    Timeline: Implementation within 1 year

    Completion: Mid-2015

    Project:Replacement of old

    rail tracks (500 pieces). Thiswill maximize the speed of the

    Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) and

    ensure the safety of

    passengers.

    Train Overhaul

    Budget: PHP 1,155,500,000.00

    Procurement Status: To begin Q4 2014

    Timeline: Repair of 1 LRV takes 1 month

    Completion: 2016

    Project:Repair of 28 cars or

    Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) aspart of their maintenance to

    better serve the public and

    ensure riders safety.

    Upgrade of Conveyance Facilities

    Budget: PHP 50,000,000.00

    Procurement Status: To begin Q4 2014

    Timeline: Implementation within 1 yearCompletion: 2015

    Project:Upgrade or

    replacement of obsoleteelevators and escalators to

    accommodate passengers

    especially PWDs, pregnant

    women, and senior citizens.

    New Radio Communication System

    Budget: PHP 110,000,000.00

    Procurement Status: To begin Q1 2015

    Timeline: Implementation within 1 year

    Completion: 2015

    Project:Replace and upgrade

    the entire radiocommunication system for

    improved coordination.

    Another improvement for

    passenger safety.

    Traction Motors Replacement

    Budget: PHP 94,500,000.00

    Procurement Status: To begin Q4 2014

    Timeline: Implementation within 1 year

    Completion: 2015

    Project:Replacement of train

    engine motors to maximizeuse of trains. This will improve

    service reliability.

    North Avenue Footbridge

    Budget: PHP 13,763,234.00

    Procurement Status: Waiting for Terms of Reference

    Timeline: To be determined

    Completion: 2016

    accommodate passenger

    queues.

    Regular Requirement: Maintenance

    Budget: $ 1,400,000.00 per month

    Procurement Status: To begin September 2014Timeline: Three-year contract beginning Q4 2014

    Project:Procurement of a

    longer-term maintenanceprovider to ensure that the

    system operates under safe

    running conditions and to

    maintain cost at a minimum

    level with a reliable system.
