Foremost on this list is our annual election of officers. I wish to take this opportunity to encourage all eligible members to consider running for an elected office. We need to continue getting new leadership because that brings in new ideas and allows our council to grow and remain strong. The nomination process starts in April and elections are in May. Office terms are for one year. Next June finds us sponsoring our annual car show on the parish grounds. During the month of July we will be having our inaugural golf outing followed by dinner and prizes. The moneys earned in the June and July events will help us in our charitable acts so I am asking for all that can help us please do. At this time, I wish to thank all of the elected officers and the appointed directors as well, for their help, support, and guidance these last two years. I also extend my most gracious thanks to all the members of this great council and their families who have been there doing what needed to be done. Last but not least are the Past Grand Knights from whom I have learned a lot. As I said almost two years ago No Man Is an Island No Man Lives Alone. Please remember we are strongest when we all work as one serving others. Dooley Echo Knights of Columbus Dr. Thomas A. The BIG 6 The Activation Team would like to thank all the Knights who helped mentor our newest members over the past year. We are also looking for Knights who would be interested in serving as Mentors over the next year. As a Mentor, you would be responsible for helping a new Knight become active in our Council. You would be asked to: · Contact a new Knight in advance to remind him to attend our monthly Membership Meetings. · Inform the new Knight of upcoming activities and volunteer opportunities in which he may be interested in participating. · Inform the new Knight of Major Degree Ceremonies in the area if he is only a First Degree Knight. Ideally, a Mentor will attend the Major Degree Ceremony with the new Knight. · Assist the new Knight in completing the requirements for the Shining Armor Award, if in his first year as a Knight, or the Michigan Shining Armor Award, if in a later year. · Introduce the new Knight to brother Knights and make the new Knight feel welcome at Council events. · Strive to develop a “Big Brother” type of friendship with the new Knight and encourage dialogue to help him gain a deeper understanding of the principles and core priorities of the Knights of Columbus.
It is important that we encourage/help our new members to become active. Please consider serving as a Mentor. Contact Dan Vecchioni, e-mail [email protected], phone 734.591.9318.

The Knights donate money and deliver supplies donated by local merchants to “Sister Judie’s Outreach” in memory of Sister Judie at “Good Shepherd Church” near downtown Detroit in a ministry to the homeless and low-income people in the surrounding area.
The Knights donate time and money to support the efforts of Corpus Christi Parish in Detroit with its outreach to the low-income people in its neighborhood and to Gianna House that supports and teaches unwed mothers to keep and raise their children.
The Knights prepare and serve pancake breakfasts and spaghetti dinners to raise money for various charities.
The Knights participate in the statewide Tootsie Roll Drive to raise funds for our citizens with intellectual disabilities.
The Knights support the seminarians at Sacred Heart, St. Cyril and Methodious and other seminaries with funds to help defray expenses, along with direct seminarian support.
The Knights award annual scholarships in the name of the late Richard Stanisz to selected children and grandchildren of Knights in good standing.
The Knights support over 36 charities statewide from our “Take Five” program. Each member donates an extra $5 with his annual dues.
The Knights and their spouses assist St. Colette Parish with the family picnic and “Donut Sundays.”
The Knights assist with parish blood drives four times each year and an annual Halloween party for the parish families.
The Knights support “RIGHT TO LIFE” programs throughout the year.
The Knights collect and wrap sweatshirts for boys and girls and deliver them to Holy Cross Children’s Services during the Christmas season.
The Knights also offer many opportunities for spiritual growth and social activities that include the Knights and their families. This helps bring us together in friendship and energizes and inspires us in the practice of our Faith and in service to others.
The Knights meet on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00PM with a light meal, dessert and camaraderie at 6:00PM to which prospective new members are welcome.
