Which would you choose? It seems obvious, right? With something so important, you need to know what you are getting. Surprisingly, many of your customers could be settling for “possibly” when it comes to their software licensing.

Educating your customers about the business risks of using unlicensed software could help them make licensing a higher priority and increase your licensing revenues. Studies show that companies using improperly licensed software encounter more system failures that result in data loss and downtime. In the end, these companies may be less profitable than businesses with fully licensed software.*

If your customer has purchased PCs without genuine Microsoft® Windows® operating system software preinstalled, or discovers they have unlicensed software because of counterfeit or improper use of a Volume License Key, they may need your help to review their licenses and bring them into compliance.

Don’t miss out on these licensing sales opportunities. Familiarize yourself with the Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organizations (GGWA-SMO). GGWA-SMO is a Volume License legalization offering and gives you a way to address the legalization opportunity within your customers’ existing PCs. It can help you grow your Volume License business and strengthen your customer relationships.

Make sure your customers have only genuine licensed software. For more information contact your Microsoft representative or visit https://partner.microsoft.com/40032275.

Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Small and Medium Organizations (GGWA-SMO) You can offer customers GGWA-SMO through Volume Licensing to legalize five or more PCs. GGWA-SMO provides a full Windows Vista® Business operating system license to customers in need of legalizing existing PCs. Customers who acquire GGWA-SMO are eligible to enroll in Software Assurance (SA) within 90 days from the date of the GGWA-SMO purchase.

Ordering ProcessGGWA-SMO is a Volume License offering, however, it is not on the price list. To order GGWA, the reseller acquires customer information to complete the GGWA agreement (no customer signature is required). This agreement is submitted to a Microsoft Authorized Distributor and the order is placed by the reseller. Windows Vista Business media is not included, but consistent with any Microsoft Volume License program, it can be ordered separately. Windows XP Professional media can be ordered (up until the release of the next version of the Windows operating system) if the customer is downgrading from Windows Vista Business. The customer can access Volume License Keys (VLK) via MVLS or by calling the Product Activation Center.

Target Audience ● Customers with an installed base of PCs needing Windows legalization.

Availability ● Available November 1, 2008.

Product ● Off price list: Windows Vista Business

Order Quantity ● Minimum five licenses (reorders allowed through agreement term of two years).

Terms and Conditions ● Non-signed agreement to buy legal going forward. ● Generally no transferability of license, except as allowed by agreement. ● Downgrade rights available.

Support ● Support is available for purchase from either Microsoft or a Microsoft reseller.

Q. What is the GGWA-SMO ordering process?A. To order GGWA-SMO, follow these steps:1. Reseller presents the GGWA to the customer and acquires customer information to complete the agreement (no customer signature required).2. Reseller submits GGWA agreement to Microsoft Authorized Distributor for onward submission to Regional Operations Center (ROC).3. Distributor places order with the ROC.4. Customer receives electronic order confirmation (c.c. to Resellers).

Q. Are installation and activation required?A. There are two scenarios for installation and activation:1. If the customer is running non-genuine software (i.e., counterfeit), they need to install the genuine copy. To activate the software, the customer uses their VLK found on MVLS. They can also call the Product Activation call center to acquire a VLK.2. No installation or activation is required if the customer already has genuine software. This scenario typically applies when there is a mis-licensing situation (i.e., customer used a Volume License agreement to install Windows without an underlying operating system).

Q. If customers need to install Windows Vista, can they go to MVLS or Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) to download this product? A. Only customers with other Volume Licensing agreements with Microsoft can go to MVLS or VLSC to download the Windows bits. Customers without other Volume License agreements will not have access.

Q. Is there a solution available for large volume deals?A. Yes. There is a large-deal solution available direct from Microsoft or Large Account Resellers (LARs) called the Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Large Organizations (GGWA-LO). Contact a Microsoft representative for more information on this solution.

Q. What should the customer be offered if they are not eligible for GGWA-SMO?A. Customers can purchase Full Packaged Product (FPP). Depending on the customer’s circumstances, the Get Genuine Kit (GGK), or the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Kit may be offered. Please visit http://oem.microsoft.com/getgenuinekit for GGK and www.microsoft.com/genuine for WGA.
