It  is  a  direct  channel  from  your  home  to  the  elements  outside.  

Heat  will  be  sucked  right  up  the  chimney  instead  of  staying  in  your  

home.  

2.  Check  the  Damper  Again  

Another  thing  to  be  sure  of  with  the  damper  is  that  it  is  properly  fiLed  to  

your  chimney  flue.  

If  the  fit  isn’t  very  snug,  you  are  losing  heat.  

Also,  if  you  never  use  you  fireplace,  you  should  permanently  seal  the  

chimney  flue  to  ensure  no  lost  heat.  

3.  Know  Your  Surroundings  

When  your  are  using  your  fireplace,  close  all  doors  leading  into  the  area.  

Doing  so  will  help  centralize  the  warmth.  

Also,  open  a  window  in  the  same  room  just  a  crack,  about  1  inch.  

This  will  help  keep  the  hot  air  moving  out  and  make  sure  that  it  

isn’t  being  sent  up  the  chimney  with  the  smoke.
