STRETCHING YOUR INCOME: Helpful Tips from a Helpful Friend. Be Proactive: Everyone can use help from time to time... don’t wait for bills to pile up before you seek help. Communicate Effectively: Contact your creditors and utility companies. Let them know you are having a difficult time. They will often work with you. Have a Mortgage or Auto Loan: Contact your lender and see if you can refinance. Stretching your payments over a longer period of time can lower monthly payments. Check your Local Churches for Food Pantries: There are many programs available to help you through difficult times. Don’t be embarrassed: Ask for help from a friend, neighbor, com- munity resource or the Mission. We’re only a phone call away. Seek Help from your Community: Call 2-1-1 emergency help line, your local county offices, or the Atlantic City Rescue Mission at (609) 345-5517. Create a Budget: Determine your month- ly income and bills, and find places you can trim. Are there luxuries you can do without to help save money each month?
