BUSINESS SCHOOL Doctor of Business Administration FOSTERING A WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION FOR FUTURE LEADERS ACHIEVE INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENCE The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a professional doctorate designed for research-oriented individuals working in management positions. Undertaking the DBA will provide you with an opportunity to make an important contribution to the development of your chosen research area, while also building your skills in: Communication Creative, independent research Critical thinking Developing expertise in a particular business area Evaluating and understanding consultants’ reports Problem solving Time and project management The Doctor of Business Administration at the UWA Business School builds the independent research, critical thinking and project management capacity of managers working in the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors. Course requirements The DBA consists of five coursework units and a thesis. Coursework Students must complete the following coursework units: Business Research: Principles and Processes Quantitative Methods in Business Research Qualitative Methods in Business Research Literature Review and Criticism Research Proposal and Defence Candidates must pass each unit with a minimum grade of 65 per cent. Research Proposal and Defence is the final unit before candidates commence their thesis, and requires students to defend their research proposal before an academic panel. Thesis Students must write a thesis of up to 60,000 words. The thesis will normally focus on a topical and relevant business issue and is expected to make a significant contribution to the understanding of management or business issues, policies, strategies or practice.
