23-03-2021 Terry Henderson OTI Racing 204/425 Docklands Drive Docklands, Vic 3008 Dear Terry, Re: Happy Pharrell Happy Pharrell was examined by the Ballarat Veterinary Practice Equine Clinic on 23rd March 2021. Happy Pharrell developed a swollen, hot and painful right front leg 3 days ago after exercise. He was treated with anti-inflammatory medications, box rest and compression bandages. Today the right front tendon was cold, firm and straight. Ultrasound examination of the right front leg found a moderate lesion in the superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) at Zone 1A to 3C. At the most severe level, Zone 2A/B, the cross sectional area of the lesion was approximately 50% of the enlarged tendon (FS=1/3, ES=2/4). Ultrasound examination of the suspensory ligament and deep digital flexor tendon (DDFT) found no abnormalities. Diagnosis: Happy Pharrell has a diffuse lesion in the SDFT of the right front leg. Treatment: It is my recommendation to stop work with Happy Pharrell. There are a number of treatment options used for these types of injuries: Option 1. Undertake an 6-9 month rehabilitation program. Prognosis is considered to be 50% Week 0 Ultrasound Examination 1 – 2 5 mins walk and maintain stable bandaging 3 – 4 10 mins walk and maintain stable bandaging 5 – 6 20 mins walk 7 – 8 30 mins walk ( 8 ) Ultrasound Examination
