Overview

1 OverviewThe purpose of the installation work is to check the delivery, to install the Flexi BSC and

the TCSM3i to the site, to prepare the network elements, and to check that the site is

ready for commissioning.

The purpose of Installation work check list for Flexi BSC and TCSM3i is to ensure the

quality of installation work. It provides Check list and, in the Appendix, Installation Cer-

tificate of Completion for checking the installation of the Flexi BSC and the TCSM3i. The

Check list is to be updated after each work phase.

Also, Site Deficiency Report and Failure Report are generated during the work. The fol-

lowing documents are referred to in the Check list :

2.5 Installing the cabinet on floor rails

Install the cabinets on floor rails according to the floor plan.

Study the floor plan.

See: Installation site requirements for Flexi BSC and TCSM3i section Equipment room layout

Adjust all four feet of the cabinet (or cabinets) to an initial height

of about 50 mm (2 in).

Place the cabinet to its final place according to the floor plan.



Level off the cabinet in the width and depth direction using a spirit

level as a reference.



If two or more Flexi BSCs or TCSM3is are installed, repeat the

steps mentioned above.



Attach the cabling cabinet to the equipment cabinet by using bolts

for attachment.

When installing an upgrade-delivery Flexi BSC, attach the base

cabinet and the extension cabinet by using bolts for attachment.

When installing the TCSM3i for combined BSC/TCSM installation

option, attach the TCSA cabinet to the BSC-part by using bolts for

attachment.

In a row consisting of several network elements, attach the

network elements firmly to one another, but do not use any bolts

for attachment.


Study the floor plan.

Determine the insertion points on the floor for the attachment

screws for the first rail.

Installing the Floor Rail Installation Set

Mounting the cabinet on floor rails

Drill the holes for the screws and lodge a wedge anchor in each

hole.

See: Installing Flexi BSC and TCSM3i, section Installing thecabinets on floor rails

Repeat the procedure mentioned above for the other rail.



Place the rails to their final places and level them off.



In IBN installation, mount the insulation tube in the first hole,

followed by the insulation washer, the washer and the attachment

screw. Screw in the screw loosely.

Repeat the procedure mentioned above to all attachment pointsfor both rails.



After attaching all screws, tighten them.



In IBN installation, check that the attachment screws are not elec-

trically connected to the rail.




Insert the cabinet attachment pieces inside the floor rails.



Place the support bars crosswise to the rails, each bar on a pair

of cabinet attachment pieces.



Move the support bars to approximately their final positions

lengthwise on the rails.




Remove the feet from the cabinet.

2.6 Installing the Side cable conduit

Install the Side cable conduit (SCC). It can be installed at either side of the equipment

cabinet. When the SCC is used, the cabling cabinet cannot be used.

It is recommended to install and tie the cables entering the cabinet through the conduit

before installing the conduit panel.

2.7 Grounding (earthing) the cabinet

Ground (earth) the cabinets.

Place the installation ramp in front of the rail, between the

support bars for the cabinet and press the support bars against

the sides of the ramp.See: Installing Flexi BSC and TCSM3i, section Installing the

Loosely attach the cabinet to the attachment pieces using

M10x40 hex bolts.



Push the cabinet sideways along the rails to its final position.

Attach the equipment cabinet by using bolts for attachment.

Attach the cabling cabinet to the equipment cabinet by using

bolts for attachment.

When installing the TCSM3i for combined BSC/TCSM installa-

tion option, attach the TCSA cabinet to the BSC-part by using

bolts for attachment.

In a row consisting of several network elements, attach the

network elements firmly to one another, but do not use any bolts

for attachment.



Install two mounting brackets in the upper and lower holes of the

cabinet using screws, washers and nuts.See: Installing Flexi BSC and TCSM3i, section Installing the

Install the conduit panel on the mounting brackets using

washers and screws.

In installations on a raised floor, the main ground cable is routed through the SCC onto

the cable structures under the floor, and to the main ground bar of the site.

2.8 Connecting the site power supply

Connect the site power supply.

Installing Earth comb panels (CPGOs)


Install the main ground cable to the grounding connector.

Measure and cut a 25 mm² (AWG 4) cable which connects the

network element to the main ground bar of the site (one cable

per network element).

Install the NEBS-compliant cable bracket to the grounding con-

grounding bracket with two M6 hex socket screws.

Install the Earth comb panel (CPGO) at the BSCC cabinet top

in the hole on right-hand side (seen from front) of the Connector

panel (CPRJ45-A). Secure it with four Allen-head screws.

2.9 Attaching and filling in the labels and stickers

Attach and fill in the labels and stickers.

Note, however, that in first deliveries, the network element identification sticker is

attached to the cabinet at the factory.

2.10 Installing the internal cablesInstall the internal cables.

2.11 Replacing Fan Trays

The equipment cabinet contains four Fan Trays (FTRB-A or FTRB) for forced cooling.

The Fan Trays have been installed at the factory into special slots contained on shelves

2 and 4 (BSCC and BSCD) and on shelves 1 and 4 (TCSA) in the cabinet. If you haveto replace them, follow the instructions given in the installing document.


Connect the main supply cables from the rectifiers to the four

power connector blocks (PSCG3-B) on the top structure of the

cabinet.

Attach labels (the network element identification sticker and

cabinet identification and positioning sticker).

Create a temporary ESD-protected area (EPA) for field work.

It is strongly recommended that the entire installation site be constructed according to

EPA rules.

2.13 Equipping the cartridges with plug-in units

Equip the cartridges with plug-in units.


Remove cables from the FTRB-A (FTRB).

Pull the FTRB-A out of the shelf.

Insert the FTRB-A (FTRB) into the shelf: slide the locks on thefront of the FTRB-A (FTRB) towards each other and push the

Fan Tray gently into its shelf (positions 2 and 4, or positions 1

and 4) until it clicks into place.

Connect cables into the FTRB-A (FTRB):

• connect the power cable from connector P7 in the corre-

sponding PDFU-B (S11.5 onwards) PDFU-A (S11 or

S10.5) to the back connector of the FTRB

• connect Alarm cabling from CLOC-B to the back connec-

tor of the FTRB-A (FTRB)

• connect grounding cable from the shelf to the FTRB-A(FTRB).

Precautions

Replacing DCAR1-A

Installing plug-in units

Install plug-in units if they have not been installed at the factory. Follow the instructions

below.


Check the following:

• PROM versions of the plug-in units

• interchangeability codes of the plug-in units

• jumper connectors on the plug-in units.

Familiarise yourself with precautions to be taken.See: Installing Flexi BSC and TCSM3i, section Equipping the


Ensure that you are working in an electrostatic free environ-

ment.



Handle the plug-in units with care at all installation phases.




Replace the DCAR1-A.




Check the code of the plug-in unit positions. Record and

correct the differences according to jumper setting instruc-

tions.

Use an EDS wrist strap earthing device!

Insert all the plug-in units (including I/O devices) in the car-

tridges after checking of identification labels.

Leave the plug-in units unconnected.

Reinstall the doors.
