USING THE DEVICE
Given that the perforation of the film is essential for air to escape during the shrinking process,with this optional device it is possible to obtain localised holes as an alternative to the traditionalperforation system which uses needles on the reel holder of the sealing machine.This device is usually used when a tight seal is needed to properly conserve the product. Inthis case as the hole is localised, it can easily be resealed by means of adhesive labels.
The optional perforating device can be used on the automatic angular sealing machines or onthe continuous longitudinal sealing machines in the SMIPACK range.
1.1 OPERATION PRINCIPLEThe optional perforator comes into operation when the product is detected on the input belt bythe vertical photocell A, which, by means of a timer, activates a solenoid valve in the devicethat provides the impulse to make the hole while the film is being pulled.The number of holes that the device can make depends on the speed of the packagingmachine, so it may be necessary to adjust the timer inside the control panel to change theexecution times. To adjust the timer see paragraph 1.6.
1.2 DANGER ZONES AND RULES OF CONDUCTWhen the machine is in operation do not, for any reason, intervene on the mechanical part ofthe perforating device of the film as there is a danger of crushing. In close proximity to thedanger zone a pictogram has been placed to recall the attention of the operator.

1.3 ACTIVATING/DISABLING THE DEVICE
Using the selector B, the optional devicecan be activated (Pos.1) or disabled(Pos.0).
To prevent further perforation of the film by means of the C supports on which the standardperforating needles are located, they need to be raised manually, as shown in the figure so thatthey do not come into contact with the film.

1.4 PASSING THE FILM THROUGH THE DEVICE When using the optional perforating device, the film must be passed through the device so thatit can be perforated, you need to therefore follow the diagrams shown in the Figure. Loosen the screws D and the handles E in order to raise or lower the entire perforator unit inaccordance with the perforating requirements of the film:
• the upper position (as shown in fig. a) is used only to pierce the edge of the top film.
• the lower position (as shown in fig. b) is used for when you want to pierce both edges of thefilm.
After making this adjustment tighten the screws D and the handles E.

1.5 SETTING THE PERFORATING POSITIONThrough the handles E set the perforating position that is required based on the width of thefilm reel.
1.6 ADJUSTING THE TIMERSCalibration of the timer is based on the number of holes that you want to get on the bag whichis variable in accordance with the product size and the operation speed of the machine.To set the timer you need to access the inside of the electrical panel by following theprocedures and precautions in the user and maintenance manual of the packaging machine.
Field 2 (Time) shown in the figure is the only setting thatcan be adjusted for each timer. By lowering the value set, the speed of execution betweenone hole and another increases while it reduces byincreasing the value.
ATTENTION! The fields of timer 1) and 3) are not to bemodified. The figure shows the correct settings.
