DLO Components DLO contains the following components: DLO Administration Server DLO Dedupe Server DLO Administration Console DLO Database DLO Maintenance Server DLO Agent (Desktop Agent)

DLO Administration Server The DLO Administration Server is a service running in the background. The DLO Maintenance Server, Storage Locations (File Server) and DLO Administration Console can reside on the Administration Server.

Dedupe Server The Dedupe Server is web service hosted on Tomcat Web Server. It maintains the Global Hash Table and helps the Agent in identifying the data that already exists in the Dedupe Storage Location. The Dedupe Server can also be installed on the same server where the other DLO components are installed.

DLO Administration Console DLO Administration Console is the graphical user interface. From the DLO Administration Console, the Administrator can perform the following tasks: Create profiles for groups of users or computers. Profiles enable you to control the desktop users level of interaction with the Desktop Agent, define the types of files that can be backed up, set the schedule for backups, and configure additional settings for the Desktop Agent. Create network user data folders. Network user data folders are locations on the network where data from protected desktops is stored. Create Automated User Assignments. Automated User Assignments determine the DLO Storage Location and profile to which users are assigned when they install the Desktop Agent. Note: Automated User Assignments are not used if users are manually added to DLO. 15 Symantec Desktop and Laptop Option

DLO Components Add users manually to DLO. Instead of using Automated User Assignments, you can manually add users to DLO and assign a profile and DLO Storage Location to them. This is particularly useful when network shares already exist for user data storage. Users can be added individually or multiple users can be added at the same time by importing them from a list. View history log files, receive alerts, and restore files to a desktop from the Administration Console. Configure and manage Dedupe Server.



DLO Database The DLO Database has two components: Configuration database and Dedupedatabase. DLO Configuration Database: DLO configuration database contains details related to the deployment of DLO components. For example, where the database is installed (on a remote machine or on the host), where the maintenance server exists, and so on. Dedupe Database: Dedupe database is the data store used by Dedupe Server for persisting the Dedupe related configuration and the Global Hash Table. The Dedupe database is always installed on the same server as the DLO Configuration database in all the supported configurations of the DLO Configuration database.

DLO Maintenance Server The maintenance server is installed by default when DLO is installed. Only one maintenance server is required. However, in large installations it may be more efficient to have one maintenance server for each Storage Location (File Server).

Desktop Agent The Desktop Agent resides on the desktops and laptops that you want to protect. The desktop users level of interaction with the Desktop Agent can vary depending on how the Administrator has configured the profile assigned to the user. The Desktop Agent may run in the background, automatically protecting files. Alternatively, desktop users with full access to the Desktop Agent interface can do the following: Schedule backups Select which types of files to back up Restore files 16 Symantec Desktop and Laptop Option

DLO Components Synchronize file versions between different computers View the status of their backups



Click on setup to start the installation.

Read the DLO Pre-Requisites and click on yes



Click next to start the installation

Read the license agreement and click next



Select all the feature to install and click next

Choose the location where DLO need to be installed and click

next



Enter the serial Number of DLO product and click next

Select the SQL instance ( as backup exec is installed on same

server SQL is already installed with backup exec)



Select yes to the message

Enter the Domain Admin credential and click next



Click Next to start the installation

Click finish to finish the installation setup



Click ok for the message

Need to set the recovery password for DLO click next



Enter the desired password and click next

Click finish to complete the recovery password setup



Desktop and Laptop (DLO) configuration wizard will start when

DLO is started for first time. click next

We will be adding Dedupe server in this wizard. Click next



Click next to start the Dedupe wizard

Type in the name for Dedupe server



Type the server name where Dedupe server need to be installed

This are the default port for Dedupe server communication click

next



Click on Add Dedupe storage location and click finish

Click on add user and add the Domain admin account



Click on Dedupe storage pool and view the setting

We will add a Dedupe Storage location(first we need to create

folder and give appropriate right)



Click on Add to add the Dedupe storage location

Provide the name for Dedupe storage browse and add the folder

location created in earlier step and add the Domain Admin

account and click add



Dedupe storage location will be added as mention below click

close

Profile and backup selection wizard will start automatically.

Click next



Click next to start profile wizard.

Type in the name of DLO profile



Click on enable Dedupe backup for this profile and click next

Click yes for the popup box



Click Add to add the folder which need to be backup

In general type in the name and provide the folder location from

where data need to be backup and click OK



Select According to Schedule and click next

Select the days and time when the backup job to be run and click

next



There is no disk space usage set click next

No changes made in Desktop agent default path click next



Dont make any changes click on ok

Click on Next.



Dont make any changes on network throttling and clink on next

Select the option mention below and click next



Read the summary and click finish

This wizard will start new maintenance server Wizard. Select

option and click next



Click next to start the installation

Select the serve where you want to install the maintenance

server



Click finish to install the maintenance server wizard.

Adding storage location for user profile. Select the option and

click next



Click next to start the installation.

Select the computer name where storage location needs to be

installed.



Browse to the path where storage location needs to be created.

Path will be show as mention below.



Provide the name for the storage location.

Assign the Dedupe storage location.



Read the summary and click finish.

Dont assign user automatically select No and click next



Click on yes to start the new user wizard.

Click next to start the new user wizard.



Type in the user name or select browse to choose the user from

AD

Select the profiles which need to be set to the user.



Select the destination storage location for user.

Read the summary and click



review the summary and click finish



Adding mail notification of user

Click on configure Email and pagers

Click on SMTP Configuration .Enter the details on below



Click on New to add Recipients.

Click on person and select new



Click on Enable. and add the username



Click on new.

Click on group to create mailing Group



Provide the name for Group and add the required recipient.

Group will be show



Installing DLO agent on target machine.

Browse to location where DLO desktop agent is saved.

(\\inst002\DLOagent)

Double click on setup File and click on next to start DLO agent

installation



Click on accept license agreement and click next

Choose the drive where agent need to be installed



Click on install.



Click finish



SYBE DLO Data restoration server end

Click on restore tab of DLO admin.

Select the user and expand the file which need to be restored

Select restore to original folder and click on next



Read the summary and click on restore

Click ok on the Popup



Restore will start running



SYBE DLO Data restoration User end

Right click on desktop agent and click on open desktop agent.

Select the file which need to be restored



Click on restore files

Select the restore to original folder and click ok
