According to DODD 8190.0E Defense Logistics Management Standards
It is DOD policy that…
1. DLMS is the DoD standard for EDI among the automated information systems that comprise assigned business processes of the global supply chain management system.
2. ANSI ASC X12 is the baseline standard that supports the DLMS transactional information exchanges.

DODD 8190.01E
Per DODD 8190.01E, The DOD Component Heads shall:
1. Support the DLMS Change Management Process.
2. Uniformly implement the DLMS in all information systems that support DLM 4000.25 procedures.
3. Use the services of the DLMS global services providers to support Automated Information Systems (AISs) that perform the business functions covered in the DLM 4000.25.
4. Use DLMS for ASC X12* transactions with contractors in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 53.105.

– The system maps to one or more of the Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) operational activities within the Integrated Business Framework Data Alignment Portal (IBF-DAP).
