VORTEX BLADEArranged Diamond

Tech Notes•Arranged Diamond: Arranged diamonds have been proven in some applications to provide as much

as 50% faster cutting and increased blade life.

•Increases Blade Life: Arranged diamonds allow the diamonds to be used more efficiently due to reduced force on each diamond. This will allow better use of these diamonds helping to increase blade life.

•Increases Versatility: Arranged diamond blades allow greater versatility in cutting a wider range of products due to none-redundant method of diamond distribution

•Preferred application: Because the amount of diamonds are limited to the spacing of the diamonds this makes them more suitable for dry cutting with high speed saws and low HP saws.

•Cool Blade: Grooves between the diamonds will form during cutting in a very uniform fashion reducing excess friction and allowing the blade run cooler than normal.

•Side clearance protection: The array of diamond on the outside face of segments act like a gauge protector. This prevents the blade from losing side clearance prematurely

Refractory brick are typically harder and denser than standard brick. They usually contain additives like alumina and silica to make them more resistant to heat and/or chemicals. These bricks are used in furnaces, chimneys, kilns, ovens, and places of high acidity.

CGH - Diamond Concrete Grinding Heads are used for grinding concrete and finishes from floors. Hole pattern is designed to fit most floor grinding machines. 4 holes are 3/8” - 24 fine machine thread, and other 4 holes are 25/64” countersunk. Arbor is 3/4”.

The DGI Grinding Shoe Inserts are designed for replacement of the original shoes and bridges used on floor grinders. These inserts are for removing thin layers of coatings without clogging. Grinding Inserts can also be used for smoothing rough, uneven or patched slabs of concrete. Additional applications include leveling and feathering.

Note: Slow cutting and short blade life are common problems with diamond blades. It is very important to understand that the segment of the blade is designed to wear at a certain rate. That is one of the important factors that makes one blade different from another.

Slow Cutting SpeedCause Usually occurs when a blade is used to cut a

material that is too hard for the segment. The hard material wears the exposed diamonds, but not the metal portion of the segment. The segment wears too slowly, no new diamonds are exposed, and you see slow cutting speed.

Solution Cut a soft, abrasive material until diamonds are well exposed. Try Asphalt, block, sandstone, or dried mortar. Choose the proper blade for the application.

Potential If this problem is allowed to continue, heat builds up and the blade begins to bounce leading to segment loss, core cracks and a very unsafe condition.

Short Blade LifeCause Usually occurs when a blade is used to cut a

material that is too soft and abrasive for the segment. The abrasive material wears the metal of the segment too fast, and you see short blade life.

Solution Specify the correct blade, choose a more wear resistant bond. Check water flow. Make sure blade is rated for the equipment used. Check saw is in good condition.

Potential If blade specification is not changed the problem will reoccur. Customer will not get the full life and efficiency of the diamond tool.

Core or Segment CracksCause Blade is too hard for material. Saw is in need of repair. Blade

mounted improperly. Overheating. Twisting while cutting or attempting to cut curves.

Solution Specify a softer bonded blade for the material. Check all bearings, belts, shaft and flanges. Check direction of blade travel. Follow guidelines for proper blade operation and cooling procedures.

Potential If this problem is allowed to continue it will result in segment loss and possible core destruction. This is an extremely dangerous situation. Do not continue to use the blade.

Wobbling/Warped BladeCause Blade is out of tension...the steel core is not straight. Wrong

size collars or mounted incorrectly. Blade allowed to overheat (bluish black marks). Blade run at at improper RPM.

Solution Return blade to factory for repair. Use the correct sized blade collars. Check flanges are smooth and tightfitting. Follow guidelines for proper blade operation and cooling procedures. Check RPM rating for blade and saw.

Potential If this problem is allowed to continue, heat builds up and the blade begins to bounce leading to segment loss, core cracks and a very unsafe condition. Produces poor quality cuts.

UndercuttingCause Steel core is worn faster than segments by abrasive

material being cut.Solution Specify a blade with wear-retardant design. Increase

water flow to flush cut.Potential If this problem is allowed to continue, the core will wear

out from under the segment and allow the segments to separate.

• ALL DIAMOND TOOLS ARE WARRANTED AGAINST MANUFACTURING DEFECTS FOR THE LIFE OF THE PRODUCT. Applicability of warranty will be determined ONLY after inspection by a qualified DDM representative. DDM may pro-rate any warranty claim based upon a fair percentage of tool life prior to failure. Any tool covered under warranty will be replaced or repaired at the discretion of DDM. Warranty items include labor, parts, and return service shipping via UPS Ground or best-way.

• RETURNED GOODS AUTHORIZATION (RGA) must be issued by a DDM customer service representative and must accompany all items returned to the factory. Please have the following information before you call for an RGA: type and size of tool, part number, serial number, equipment used, and material being cut.

• RESTOCKING FEES may apply to the return of any non-catalog item.

• PLACE ORDERS with your local distributor, a DDM sales representative, customer service representative, by phone, fax, or e-mail. If you need help selecting tools, DDM will be glad to help you specify the tools you need. You do not need specific item numbers when placing orders.

• DISTRIBUTION POLICY: Orders will be processed for customers with accounts in our system. DDM sales policy is to guide consumers to approved distributors whenever possible.

• ITEM NUMBERS identify the specific tool you are ordering. DDM item numbers are used during order entry, and appear on picking tickets, packing slips, and invoices. Examples of item numbers appear at the bottom of each page or are found with the prices of some product groups.
