A Message from Your LTG

Audrey’s Announcements

Hey Division 20!

Can you believe it’s already December! Time has flown by way too fast. But just because we’re slightly leaning towards the end of the service year doesn’t mean we should slow down with service and fundraising projects! Be sure to keep on selling those ELIMI-NATE hands to raise awareness for the ELIMINATE Project. In other news, maternal and neonatal tetanus has been eliminated in Ghana!

Thank you to everyone who helped out with Project Showcase ef-forts. We raised an astounding total of $1,075 for the ELIMINATE Project!

Yours in Caring and Service,Audrey Lee

Project Showcase Recap

Audrey’s AnnouncementsDecember 2

On November 17, 2011, LTG of Division 19 Jerry Zhang and LTG of Division 20 Audrey Lee held a co-divisional Project Showcase talent show at the Montville High School auditorium to benefit the ELIMI-

NATE Project. Key Clubbers from all over these two divisions came out to support the acts, and business-es from all over helped make the event happen.

Congratulations to The Lobaton Project for winning! All the acts were absolutely fantastic and it was extremely difficult for everyone to choose their favorite.

Also, thank you to clubs in Division 19 and 20 who helped recruit acts, get businesses to put their flyers in the brochures, and sell tickets.

All of everyone’s combined efforts raised a grand total of $1,075 for The ELIMINATE Proj-

ect!

Make An International Impact

We all know that our main focus as a district is to raise money for The Eliminate Project and serve Children’s Specialized Hospitals, but we must not forget our Partners of Service! As an international organization our main goal is expressed through Major Emphasis, “Children: Their Future, Our Focus" and it is important that we all try to make a difference in the entire world by contributing to these organizations!

So start thinking of some cool ways to fundraise for our Partners of Service, but most of all educates your entire community about these organizations and what they stand for!

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raise funds for children's hospitals, medical research and community awareness of children's health issues.

March of dimes is a health charity which improves and raises awareness for the health of innocent babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

United Nations Children’s Fund focuses on making sure that the rights of every child are rightfully acknowledged.

Day of Silence for Autism

Autism New Jersey is a nonprofit agency that aims to provide a safe environment for individuals that are affected by the disorder, along with their families, friends, and community. They work with those affected and professionals to further prevent Autism in hopes of one day that they will find a cure. Through advocating with families, the media, professionals, and more, Autism New Jersey is an organization that provides information, support, and training to those who need it. General Facts about Autism - Autism now affects 1 in 110 children - More children will be diagnosed with Autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes, and

cancer combined - Autism is the fastest growing mental disability in the U.S. - Boys are 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with Autism than girls Our Goal

Autism New Jersey is the domestic advocacy focus for the 2011-2012 service year. Invisible Children, our international advocacy focus, has a day of silence every May to advocate for the children in Uganda whose voices are not heard. The New Jersey District of Key Club International will be doing the same thing, but for Autism. On January 5, 2012, students will be taking part in a Day of Silence for Autism, to advocate for those who are affected by Autism and do not have the ability to communicate their thoughts. Students will not be speaking for an entire 24 hours, in or out of school on January 5th, 2012. Attached you will find a permission slip that all students must have signed by their parents and an additional permission slip that the student’s teachers must sign in order to take part in this activity throughout the entire school day. If you have any questions, please contact the District Programs Committee at the email addresses listed below or your Lieutenant Governor.
