Next Club Night

This Friday night is our last club night for the season. Our Club Championships will be held on Sunday 27th March 2011 followed by our Club Presentation Night, which will be held in June this year.

Club Championship Events This Friday night, the Individual Medley and the 100m Butterfly events will go towards the Club Championships. This means that we will need 2 timekeepers per lane for these events. Please help out if you can.

To ensure we have enough watches (i.e. we will need the watches from the 16m races), we will run the normal club night backstroke events first (50m followed by the 25m). That way, anyone swimming the 100 IM will most likely swim the 50m backstroke so this should give them a break between events.

Eligibility 100m IM swimmers need to be qualified in 2 x 50m strokes and

be 10 years or younger. 200m IM swimmers need to be 11 years or older. 100m Butterfly swimmers need to be qualified.

Awards If we get enough 100m Butterfly nominations we will split them into age categories 12yrs & Under and 13yrs & Over. Medals will be awarded for 12yrs & Under (Junior) and 13yrs & Over (Senior) even if they swim against each other.

Medals will be awarded on Sunday 27th March.

Club Championships

The Club Championships marks the end of the swimming year for the club. This day is a culmination of all the training for the year. It is also the event that determines who will be the recipients of a number of trophies at the annual Club Presentation Night.

Nominations for 25/50m events All swimmers will be automatically nominated for these events. If you are not attending on the 27th March, please send an email to Nigel at [email protected] by Friday 18th March. Nominations for 100m events (excluding Butterfly) Please send an email to Nigel at [email protected] by Friday 18th March if you wish to nominate for these events. Paper nominations will also be taken at Club Night this Friday.

Brisbane Senior Metropolitan Champs Well done to our swimmers who competed at this meet! The Jets came home with 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medal. Full results are available on our website.

Swimmers Of The Week A swimmer is chosen for each stroke in the 16m & 25m events to receive a Swimmer Of The Week certificate kindly donated by Subway Morningside. This voucher entitles swimmers to a free meal. These swimmers also receive a free lolly bag from the canteen. Well done to the following swimmers;

Promotion Certificates Swimmers who perform two swims of the same stroke at Club Night under the qualifying times receive a Promotion Certificate to swim these new distances. Brisbane Jets Swimming Club, winner of the First Division competition at the 2010 Brisbane Junior Metropolitan and 2010 Brisbane Sprint Championships is raising funds for the purchase and installation of automatic timing equipment to improve race time accuracy and increase efficiency in running club nights. The Brisbane Jets also supports competitive swimmers participating in Brisbane, Queensland and National swimming competitions.
