1 August 23, 2019 Pursuant to Maryland Rule 17-304, the following represents the roster of active ADR Practitioners and approved ADR Organizations for all Day of Trial ADR programs in the District Court of Maryland. Questions regarding additional information about the ADR Practitioner roster or the local ADR program, in general, may be directed to the ADR Office at 410-260-1676 or toll-free at 1-866-940-1729. The ADR Practitioner roster is comprised of mediators (M) and settlement conference attorneys (SCA). The ADR process provided by a practitioner is determined by his/her training and qualifications to practice in a particular ADR process: mediation or settlement conference. A description of each process is provided below. Mediation – a process in which everyone in the dispute meets with a neutral third party to talk about ways to resolve the conflict, dispute or the case. The mediator helps clarify the topics and helps parties explore and discuss potential solutions. S/he does not evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a case. Settlement Conference – a process in which everyone involved in the case meets with a neutral attorney to help parties try and find ways to resolve the case. The settlement conference attorney may evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a case but may not provide legal advice.
