Its lo- cation, ease of conducting trade and setting up facilities has en- couraged organisations from all over the world to establish a base in the country. The increase in demand has led to num- ber of industrial and business districts that range from manufacturing hotspots to dis- tribution units. District cooling is an es- sential aspect that each area requires to ensure it maintains operations at an opti- mum level. Cool energy is vital in the field of centralised production. One of the top district cooling service providers in the UAE is the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER) that caters to a wide port- folio of infrastructures, including Busi- ness Bay, Dubai Healthcare City, Jumei- rah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Jumeirah Lake Towers, TECOM, Al Khail Gate, Palm Jumeirah, Discovery Garden and Jumeirah Village, to name a few. It has successfully provided the city with feasible cooling services and currently holds about Dh9 billion projected invest- ments for the next five years. In a bid to keep up to its environmental goals, Dubai aims to reduce its power sav- ings potential in district cooling by 14 per cent in Demand Side Management (DSM) based areas, a strategy towards energy ef- ficiency, between 2013 and 2030. The UAE is keen on producing clean en- ergy technologies, and Dubai in particular aims to become a role model in energy competence through cost-efficient elec- tricity and water-saving measures. It is currently working on a regulatory frame- work for district cooling and Energy Ser- vice Companies (ESCO) that will attain building efficiency. The State of Energy report also states that the cumulative total demand for refrigeration in the Middle East is ex- pected to reach 2.9 million tonnes. Dis- trict cooling brings in immense eco- conscious possibilities as a potential to reduce yearly emission of carbon dioxide by one tonne for every demand served. Local authorities have taken up cam- paigns to encourage reusing alternative sources in the sector. Until 2000, the Central Cool-ing Concept in the emirate was limited to the Dubai Airport. Trans Gulf successfully implemented this project within a record time of 26 months. Based on that standing, the com-pany won DCP2 project (30,000 TR) at Burj Dubai Development, Dubai Healthcare City DCP (24,000 TR) followed by the largest project DCP3 (60,000 TR) at Burj Dubai Development,

which serves chilled water to landmark projects, including The Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall.

The company has been in business for more than four de-cades and undertaken more than 500 projects.
