SPEAKER BIOS

Wade NomuraWade Nomura is a charter member (2002) of the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning. He served as the District Governor in 2011-2012. He is a charter Paul Harris Society member, Major Donor, Bequest Society Member, and recipient of the Rotary International “Service Above Self” Award and the Rotary Foundation’s “Citation for Meritorious Service” Award. Wade has been on over 50 international trips for Rotary, including an NID to India, where he has a special passion, having had polio as a child. Wade is also an honorary member of 14 local Rotary clubs and 12 international clubs, having helped charter 5 of them, and honorary ambassador for an international district in Mexico.

Wade serves/served as the District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair, a Zone Trainer, Speaker at the Rotary Presidential Peace Conference for Civil Rights,

International Technical Coordinator of Cadres for Water and Sanitation, and Community and Economic Development in English and Spanish speaking countries, Rotary International Director Nominating Committee, Rotary International President’s Representative for Tanaka, Burton, Heung, Ravindran, Germ, Riseley and Rassin, 2014 and 2020 Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee Chair, 2016 and 2019 Rotary International Council on Legislation delegate, the 2017 Southern Cal/Nevada PETS Chair, and produces and hosts the TV show “Rotary, Serving Our Community” that you can see at www.WeAreRotary.TV and features a number of shows on the Rotary Foundation.

Wade is the president of Nomura/Yamasaki Landscapes, Inc., having started the company nearly 40 years ago and has been awarded multiple beautification awards.

Wade has been involved with projects in nearly 30 different countries on 5 different continents for Rotary. As a Cadre, he has evaluated 20 Global Grant projects totaling $3.5 million and benefitting over 1 million people. He has also served as an advisor to the Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees in evaluating the “Future Vision” model on its’ implementation and potential improvements and currently serving on the Rotary Foundation Strategic Planning Committee.

Wade has spoken in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Australia, New Zealand, England, India, Korea, Thailand, Japan, Canada, and cities in all four corners of the United States, on behalf of Rotary

At the local level, Wade is the Mayor of the City of Carpinteria, President of the Carpinteria Boys and Girls Club Foundation, President of the Santa Barbara Junior Golf Tour, and President of the Santa Barbara Japanese American Citizens League.

Wade was a multiple BMX National Champion and was inducted into the Japanese American National Museum “Hall of Fame” during a special tribute to Japanese American Athletes for the 2001 “More Than A Game” exhibit for his accomplishments in the sport of BMX and for racing a bike that he designed and built. The Nomura Racing bike has since become an icon among the avid BMX collectors.

Chris Etienne

Chris Etienne first joined Rotary in 1990 and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Petoskey since 1991. She served as club president in 1997-98. Chris has served Rotary District 6290 in many capacities including Assistant Governor, Membership Chair, District Trainer, Nominating Committee Chair, and Finance Chair. Chris served as District Governor in 2007-2008. She is currently District Rotary Foundation Chair and served on the Great Lakes Multi-District PETS Committee from 2003-2011. Chris was a trainer at the Zone 28-29 Institute in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and served as a Rotary Coordinator for Zone 29. She was assistant training coordinator for the Zone Institute in 2010 and was lead training coordinator for the Zone Institute in 2011 and 2012.

She was chair of the Zone Institute in 2013. Chris served Rotary International as a training leader at the International Assembly in San Diego in 2009 and 2010 and has served as President's Representative each of the last four years. She also served on the Rotary International Membership Development and Retention Committee in 2011-12 and is served on the 2015 RI Convention Promotion Committee in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Chris is Director of Leasing for the Village at Bay Harbor as well as Community Relations Director for Bay Harbor, a resort development located on the shores of Lake Michigan. She is also Associate Broker for Harbor Sotheby's International Realty located in Bay Harbor. She has served her community as a board member and volunteer for several organizations including Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, Petoskey Rotary Club Charities Inc., Bay Harbor Foundation, Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, Northwest Michigan Industrial Association and Women's Resource Center. Chris was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder in 2011 to serve on the Michigan Women's Commission and was appointed vice chair in 2012. Chris received the Athena Award in 2007 and the Emmet Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year award in 2014. Chris has been married to Dennis Lindeman since 1995. They are Major Donors of The Rotary Foundation and members of the Bequest Society. They participated in an NID for polio eradication in Uttar Pradesh, India in 2004. They have hosted eight Group Study Exchange Team members. Chris is also the recipient of The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service.

Floyd LanciaFloyd Lancia was invited to join Rotary while serving as Superintendent of Schools in Van Buren, Maine. While a member of the Van Buren Rotary Club he served in various positions including club president. With a career change, and a move to Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was invited to join the Anthony Wayne Rotary Club. While a member, Floyd served on the board, committees and as president. At the district level Floyd served in various capacities as well as District Governor in 2009-10. In his continued district level service, he continues to serve on numerous boards and committees.

At the Zone 30 level Floyd has served as Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator, Regional

Rotary Foundation Coordinator, Endowment Major Gift Advisor, governor trainer for three institutes and on three institute executive committees as well as training leader at two International Assemblies. Floyd is now serving as Endowment Major Gift Advisor and will assume the role of Rotary International Director for zones 30-31 on July 1, 2019. Floyd is the recipient of Rotary International Service Above Self Award, the Rotary Foundation’s Meritorious Service Award and the Distinguished Service Award. At the International level Floyd attended eight international conventions. He spearheaded Matching Grants for water projects in Mexico, eye surgical equipment in Nicaragua, nursing home equipment, childcare equipment, a bloodmobile, cleft palate surgical equipment in Brazil, school equipment in India, and library material in Kenya. His visits to Sierra Leone for water well dedications and the Polio National Immunization Day in India are two of the six international missions that were most moving. Floyd and his wife Betty Lou have three grown children and six grandchildren and serve the community by supporting various non-profit organizations and share the passion of the work being done through The Rotary Foundation by being Arch Klumph and Bequest Society Members.

Lisa WatermanLisa Waterman, a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Wayne, Indiana, joined Rotary in 2000 and served as the Club President in 2008-2009. During her tenure, she established the first Rotaract Club in the area and remains the liaison between the two organizations today. She also established the club tradition of using books in honor of speakers at the Club. The books are later donated to Washington Elementary School, her club's signature project. She has served in numerous capacities and on multiple committees within District 6540 including District Governor (2018-2018), the Administrative Council, District Visioning Team, Membership Committee, Assistant Governor, Chairman of the District Conference (PDG Lancia), District Interact Co-Chair, Moderator at Zone PETS training, and has also attended international

conventions in Los Angeles, Montreal, Chicago, New Orleans, Seoul, and Toronto. Because Lisa loves singing and performing, she also established the "Fort Wayne Rotary Singers" back in 2003, a group of about 8 - 12 singers from the Club that sing perfect harmony and perform regularly at Club meetings, District events and local sporting events! She has also been an inaugural and regular performer and soloist with the "District Rotary Singers" who delight the District Conference attendees annually, as well as being a part of the Rotary World Choir at the International Conventions. While Lisa and her husband David are residents of Churubusco and she claims the Churubusco Rotary Club as a close friend, she has pursued her professional life in the Fort Wayne area. A graduate of Indiana University, Lisa is a Certified Financial Planner and has worked in the securities and private wealth management for over 25 years. She now owns her own firm, Waterman Financial Services LLC. Over the years, Lisa has given extensive time to local non-profit organizations and her church. She currently serves as a Director with the Questa Foundation for Education. She is active with the IPFW Alumni Council and recently created the successful Connections events for IPFW students and local professionals. Past involvements includes board service with Passages, Inc., The McMillen Center for Health Education, Friends of the Park, SCAN, and The Fort Wayne Civic Theatre.

Eric LoveEric Love is a dynamic higher education practitioner and speaker who blends firsthand experience, a breadth of knowledge and an inspirational message to his audiences. Drawing upon his professional, personal and academic life, he is equally at home giving a keynote address, presenting a workshop or facilitating a weekend retreat.

The youngest child of a bi-racial and bi-cultural couple, Eric grew up in England and the State of Idaho. As an undergrad at Boise State University (BSU), he developed a strong sense of social justice and became an outspoken human rights activist. While at BSU, Eric served as the first African American student body president. He went on to obtain a Master’s degree from Idaho State

University (ISU) in Counseling, with an emphasis in Student Affairs. Eric then worked at ISU for five years as the Diversity Resources Coordinator. Eric completed some doctoral studies in Higher Education Administration at Indiana University, where he served as Director of Diversity Education.

Eric is currently the Director of Staff Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Notre Dame, where he continues to develop innovative strategies for diversity and inclusion programs and multicultural competency training.

Eric is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Among his proudest achievements was his role in having the state of Idaho recognize the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Eric has a consulting business, LoveForce Consulting, specializing in diversity and inclusion education and training, multicultural competency training, student leadership and social justice.
