About the Education Industry

Education Industry is the one of the fastest growing industry in India. With over 10 crores students and over 3 lacs schools across the country, there is huge growth potential to do business in education sector with such immense target audience. In-case the product offered is affordable with mass acceptation; there is huge money to be made. Looking at the current technology powered education industry; there are 2 main products in this sector.

1) Instructor led solution - This is for schools, which is installed directly into

the classroom which is used by the teachers to teach the students. It usually involves a projector, interactive whiteboard, computer and digital educational content.

2) Self study solution - This is for students, which is used directly by children to study in the comfort of their home. This solution helps the students to understand difficult educational concepts using animated content and practice their concepts using assessment modules.

SmartSchool k-12 School License is our Instructor led solution which is our classroom solution and is already being used in more than thousand classrooms across India.

SmartSchool Tutor and SmartSchool ExamGuru both are self study solutions, which are aimed at students, which form the largest consumer segment in this country. This document is designed to explain these consumer products in detail.

Our Products SmartSchool Tutor

SmartSchool Tutor is an education product for the students, containing curriculum mapped education content for students from classes Kindergarten to XII. The software is loaded on a pen drive or SD card and can run on any Windows/Android based machine. Single license of the software enables the student to access only one class for one year duration.

1) Our solution has been designed and reviewed by the experts from IIT, IIM and NCERT and covers all the subjects of the class. Our solution is available at a fraction of the cost of having good tutors for all the subjects.

2) Books and teachers can only teach through text but they cannot let the students visualize the educational concepts. As a matter of fact when we see something in the form of a movie we can easily memorize it and retain it for a much longer duration. SmartSchool Tutor provides best audio-video visualization of concepts; as a result student is able to remember concepts for longer duration.

3) Students these days are avoiding self study and go to coaching centers or take private tuitions. All of us know that a student learns maximum during self study. SmartSchool Tutor has been designed to encourage and help the students to do self study.

SmartSchool ExamGuru

SmartSchool ExamGuru is exam testing software for students containing huge collection of questions (more than 1 lac questions) to practice and revise. The question bank is curriculum mapped for students from classes I to XII. It also contains quick study material like Key points, revision notes, practice maps etc. The software is a must for quick revision and practice for securing maximum marks in the examination. Single license of the software enables the student to access all the classes, but for one year duration.

Target Audience The target audience for our product is huge. In-fact our products are more like essential products like food items, which have their customers every-where. And the best part, every parent wants the best education for their child, so if the product is good, you don’t have much resistance from the buyer’s side. However, below are some areas, where you can focus:-

1) Our solution has been designed based upon NCERT curriculum. Our

solution is ready from KG to 12th standard. It means you can target all the CBSE affiliated school students studying from KG to 12th standard having computer in their house. Since all the boards follow almost same syllabus from KG-5, you can target students from any board examination. We are in the process of releasing our products for the other state boards very soon. So right now you can start with CBSE schools and later can also target state board schools.

2) Based upon the nature of our product we recommend targeting to private

school students of households with comfortable income.

Selling Strategy Now the bigger question is how to sell!! Since we have the best product in the industry we are very confident about its acceptance by the students. Our products i.e. SmartSchool tutor and SmartSchool ExamGuru are differently priced. Where it is difficult to sell SmartSchool tutor because of the price, you can always pitch SmartSchool ExamGuru, which is much cheaper. Hence, our company gives you opportunity to sell products of different price ranges, depending upon the customer’s pocket. Since the product has huge target customers, there are many approaches through which we can sell it.

Selling through education institutions like Schools/Coaching institutes.

We strongly believe that you can make maximum profits and produce best results, if you can sell the products through schools or coaching institutes.

How to sell through schools? If school management decides to promote this product to the students by providing you opportunity to interact with parents/students, teachers refer this product to the students, school issuing circulars validating the quality and requirement of the product, school making it compulsory for certain section of students of the school; you will get phenomenal results. It is very challenging for any salesperson or organization, to convince the right person for this task. There has to be something that should excite the school to consider your product for their students. You can bundle some offers for the school or management out of the window of your margin so that they are also benefitted from this activity.

Step 1: Make following offers to the schools. You can create evaluation classroom for the school. We will support you by providing SmartSchool School License for limited period for evaluation purpose. This content is similar to the content of companies like Educomp; teach-next and other companies and school is already paying for this content. The school in return will help you promote consumer product in the school. On achieving a requisite volume, we will extend the evaluation license. You can also give offer to give complimentary hardware for the classroom from your margin.

Also you can provide 5-6 evaluation licenses of SmartSchool ExamGuru for school for a limited period, thereby making a Testing lab in the school, where the students can come and practice tests in the school.

But, before providing the complimentary license, you need to provide us with

1. Permission in writing from the school for promoting tutor and ExamGuru during PTMS and proving platform to promote these products. Without a valid letter from the school, we would not provide any evaluation license.

Now, with these offers, you will get an easy entry to the school.

Step 2: Push the product through school channel. In return of complimentary offers, request the School to push SmartSchool Tutor or ExamGuru Product for their students by allowing you to showcase the product in Parent teaching meetings or any other important gathering or even ask written circular from school regarding the product or recommendation from the teachers. How to convince the school?

1. You can say that the content given complimentary to school is similar to the one in the SmartSchool Tutor, hence if students buy it, they can revise what all they have studied in the class.

2. With SmartSchool ExamGuru software, children can do tests, and their result will be seen by teachers, to whom we will give FREE access.

3. If possible, you can set aside some discount or facilitation for school on each SmartSchool product sold (This is strictly on case to case basis) or provide offer such as on selling of more than 150 tutor application, 1 interactive classroom would be given complimentary with full hardware.

Now school will either make it mandatory to buy SmartSchool products for every student or push the product through PTAs or other seminars. In-case, the tutor is made mandatory (more than 1000), we can also provide the option of school branding on the pen drive and EMI option, so that school can adjust the price in the school fees.

Step 3: Sell the products to the school 1. Give presentation in the PTMs, or other seminars organized by the school and close the sale.

2. In-case, SmartSchool tutor becomes the part of school syllabus, sign the agreement with the school and decide the EMI for the product.

Selling through places of public gathering like Exhibitions/Fairs/Malls

One of the most used methods is to sell the product by participation in exhibitions and fairs, which generally takes place throughout the year. These exhibitions generally draw good amount of crowd, hence provides a good opportunity for showcasing the product.

Book fairs are special types of exhibitions, through which one can do a good amount of business, as people visiting book fairs are generally very much interested about education related products.

Selling through personal links

One can also sell our products purely on the basis of personal links with people. Surely we all know people in our circle, who have children and are studying in the schools. Hence, you can approach them for an easy sale.

One can also set up canopy to sell in public places like malls, shopping places, or even setting up canopy near the book stalls.

Selling through teacher referral Education is also like medical profession. The best person to refer your medicine is the doctor himself. Similarly if teacher refers any student to you the chances of its conversion are very high. So if you want high conversion leads this is the best and the easiest approach. You need to identify the private school teachers in your area. Take an appointment from them and show them our solution and give them the demo DVD or if required provide them 1 complimentary license for 3 month.

Note: You need to take special request from the company for the same. Since we have a good solution they would like to tell their students about it. Still to make the teacher more interested you can offer some margins to the teacher in final sale. Since your business originates from teachers make sure that under no circumstances forget to give him the margin otherwise it will affect your business very badly

Q.1 what is the validity of the SmartSchool products? Answer: The products have validity of 1 year from the time they are activated at the customer’s end. Q.2 Do you require technical knowledge to run the products? Answer: No, you do not require any technical knowledge to run the products, the products are so designed that even person with basic computer skill can run them. Q.3. How many computers can use a single license of the product? Answer: Single license of the product can work on only ONE computer or tablet. The key after activation gets locked to the system, hence cannot be used on any other system. Q.4. Can your products run on tablets? Answer: Yes, our products are designed both for both Windows and Android.

Q.5. what is the kind of support the company provides, in-case of any issue at customer end. Answer: Since this business is a repeat business, we expect distributors to maintain a cordial relationship with the customers. Students using the content for one year will renew year after year. Most of the queries of the customers can be addressed over the phone itself. However as a distributor you may sometimes be required to visit customer for addressing some concerns. You must advise customers to take the backup of the contents of Pen drive/CD/DVD on their system before using the same. The company however will provide following support:- Hardware Related Support

a. Pen Drive related: The pen drive comes with 1 year warranty; hence the customer can directly approach the pen drive company for any support.

b. CD/DVD related: SmartSchool Education will not be responsible for any damages caused to the CD/DVDs at the customer’s end. However we will provide replacement CD/DVDs at minimal charges to the distributor which they can give to the customer.

Software related Support

a) We will provide a download link for customers to download a copy of the content and software in case pen drive/DVD/CD crashes.

b) In case customer migrates to a different PC the key will be reset upon proper identification of the customer.
