This portfolio is representative of why I can not set architecture down.
It is not solely the establishment of a design solution that generates my centrip-
etal relationship to architecture. It is rather the opportunities for growth and
exploration that each design problem offers.
Each entry in this portfolio is identified by the predominant opportunity it
presented me.
An expansive master plan for redevelopment of the Parisian suburb of LaCorneuve
created a framework by which a housing development could be inserted. Organi-
zational principles from the master plan were distilled down to the scale of the
housing for mediating the functions of the house, and the construction process
was distilled down to a kit-of-parts for economizing the execution of the master
plan.

In the master planning phase the area defined by:
was designated for conversion into a storm water
remediation landscape. The insertion of housing into
this landscape was also prescribed, with the initial
idea that the scale of it would be comparable to that of
the housing stock to the west.

In the
development of the
individual housing project, the theme
of "bands" that was used in the master plan
was utilized as an organizational mechanism
in mediating the housing elements: circulation
(pedestrian and infrastructural), vertical
circulation, service areas, living space,
terrace.

My year as a student at Archeworks culminated with the presentation of a team
developed design proposal for enhancing the Green Youth Farm at Dyett High
School in Washington Park, Chicago...
However, several team members, including myself, resolved to extend the
working realtionship with the Green Youth Farm beyond the end of the Archeworks
term to refine and make the proposal.

There are many ways to engage with a place, building, or landscape. The follow-

Involvement in my first project in an architecture and engineering firm began with
the project already in the design development phase. My responsibility as the
primary architectural staffer on the project continued through construction admin-
istration, revealing, among many things, the relational complexity of all involved
in executing a building.

Preliminary analysis and illustration of the context surrounding this theater project
in the 18th Arrondisement of Paris identified several key themes. Development of
a design solution was directly inferred, often in a quite literal manner, from those
analytical illustrations.
