Reduce ExpectationsAll Multifocal systems are a compromise As with glasses - every one needs time to adapt !i.e.- Multifocal glasses distort size and form , one can see only through the tunnel.

Adaptation Time! Normally between 1 to 4 weeks This can be even longer due to the need to change the lens power.

Working Space Adaptation ! Check visual acuity in daylight conditions. Show your patient large objects and then immediately let him read from the newspaper . Let your patient try the lenses ! Always check visual acuity binocularly!

Keratometry measurements : horizon & vertical 7.40< (KV +kH)/2 < 8.00 Pupil size 3.0 to 5.0 mm

Refraction For the Best Vision Sphere: SPH. Myopes - red & green equal. Hyperopes - moves to the red

Movement : 0.8 mm Far & Near vision are acceptable.

Allow lens to settle for at least 1 hour.

Select the first choice Dispo Multi lens by using the table Lens Power Selection

Give the lenses to your patient and call him after one week for recheck

Troubleshooting

Check the reading acuity with goodillumination at a distance of 40 cm.

Check the patient for distance using an outsidevista. Remember the reading zone is in the center of the lens.

Over refracted R+L binocular in 0.25DS stepsand change lenses respectively.

Generally the dot sign will be at 6 oclock Normal and high binocularity is the first key to success with this system. Use the Eye-Q lens when the cyl. Is lenticularor residual Use the improved mono vision system where you do not reach good far or near vision.
