Is there anything more beautiful than enjoying a delicious meal and the finest cuisine? Have you heard of our Bündner specialities such as Capuns, Maluns, or the well-known Bündner nut cake?
Crowning conclusion of a hiking adventure is undoubtedly a fine “plättli” with Bündnerfleisch and mountain cheese. And if you want to go out in the evening, Disentis Sedrun offers a choice of superb bars and restaurants where locals and guests meet to spend some pleasant hours.

The smallest nut cakeBruno Estermann Pensioner and operator of a B&B “Would you like to take something home for your loved ones? What about the smallest nut cake in the
world? With 4 cm diameter, it is about as big as a five Franconia coin. The 19-gram nut cake is an invention of the Sedrun pastry chef and master baker Reto Schmid. You can buy the delicious mini cakes at his ‘Cafe Dulezi’ in Sedrun.”

Gravel & Road Lukmanier, Oberalp, Gotthard and Furka. These are the four famous-notorious alpine passes, leading to our holiday region. Those are truly wonderful prospects for racing cyclists! And even on gravel roads and forest tracks, you will manage to clock up your kilometres. The Gravelbike-Route Vorderrhein is long and spectacular; it leads from Chur to the Tomasee at the source of the Rhine.
More information under:disentis-sedrun.ch/gravel-road
Trail running & Nordic walking You prefer to be a little quicker on your feet? And you love to jump over rocks, roots and small brooks? Then, you are in the right place. Because trail running and Nordic walking are everything but foreign words to us. Whether you prefer wide gravel roads or narrow trails, everybody will find here the perfect trail to let off steam in real nature. Do not miss the routes with time measurement.

Bathing lakesIrina Konrad Pupil from Sedrun
“Off, into the water! There is nothing better than cooling down in the bath lake Lag da Claus in Sedrun or the
natural lake Fontanivas in Disentis on hot days. I love crossing the lake on a raft or relaxing with friends on a bath towel while eating ice cream.”

GolfDid you ever pitch a golf ball across the Rhine? That is only one of many highlights at the golf course in Sedrun. The 9-hole course is located in an idyllic pass landscape, where the young Rhine leisurely flows along. Each hole has two T-offs to offer alternatives for the second round. In the proximity are also four other golf courses.

Farm shopsArmin Manetsch Farmer from Mompé-Medel
“Are you looking for freshness and regional ingredients for dinner? Then, I recommend visiting one of the six
farm shops in the region. These farm shops are small, but make up for that with their fine selection of produce. You will find local products such as eggs, cheese, Salsiz, homemade sausages, pasta products, or honey. Everything you need for a good and authentic dinner.”

Nut cake The Bündner nut cake was brought to Grisons by native confectioners from the southern areas, where the walnuts are at home. Today, it is a much loved “souvenir” from Grisons.
Ingredients for the dough: 300 g flour, 150 g sugar, 150 g butter, 1 egg, 1 pinch of salt Ingredients for the glazing: 250 g sugar, 300 g chopped nuts, 2 dl cream
disentis-sedrun.ch/culinary
Preparation– Mix the flour, salt and
sugar in a bowl. Add the butter in small chunks. Mix well. Whisk the egg, add and combine quick-ly to a smooth dough.
– Retain 250 g of the dough for the top. Fill the cake tin (24 cm) with the re-maining dough and create a base with a 3 cm edge.
– Brown the sugar, add the nuts to roast with the sugar. Add the cream and let it boil up twice.
– Fill the mixture into the tin and cover with the remaining dough. Finish by piercing the top several times with a fork.
– Place in the cold oven and bake at high tempera-ture for approx. 10 min., and afterwards on mid heat for approx. 50 – 60 min.
Capuns Capuns is the synonym for the Grisons cuisine, exper-imentality and fantasy.
Ingredients for 5 persons:400 g white flour, 3 eggs, 1 dl water, 1 dl milk, salt, pepper, 1 pair Landjäger sausages, 1 Salsiz (120 g), 100 g raw ham, 10 g parsley, 10 g chopped chives, 20 g curled mint, 60 pcs. Swiss chard leaves, 4 dl bouil-lon, 4 dl milk, 100 g grated mountain cheese, 50 g butter / cooking butter, 100 g cubed bacon
disentis-sedrun.ch/culinary
Preparation– Measure the correct amount
of flour into a dish. Add eggs, water, milk and spices. Mix quickly to a smooth dough, and chill.
– Chop up Landjäger, Salsiz and raw ham and/or bacon into small cubes and add, together with the herbs, to the dough.
– Wash the Swiss chard leaves. Place a small spoon of dough onto each leaf and roll up into a parcel.
– Bring milk and bouillon to a boil, add the Capuns, and let them simmer for about 10 minutes. Carefully take out the Capuns, arrange on a plate, cover with some of the cooking liquid and sprinkle with cheese.
– Fry the bacon in butter to top the finished Capuns.

Source of the RhineDani SchmidPassenger transportation operator “The source of the Rhine is located at the foot of the Piz Badus in 2345 m above sea level. From here, the young
Rhine flows for 1231 kilometres until it joins the North Sea as a mighty river in Rotterdam. Around the source of the Rhine, you will find an impressive mountain world, which will definitely make your hiker’s hearts sing. My highlight is the route from the Pazolastock to the source of the Rhine at the Tomasee.”

Monastery DisentisBruder Stefan Monk in Disentis for 31 years “The monastery Disentis is a cultural centre with its own gymnasium. Apart from visiting the museum at the
monastery, you can buy homemade specialities such as pear bread and Bündner nut cake, or enjoy a hearty soup. The new and stylishly furnished rooms in the baroque building of the monastery will provide you with a heavenly sleep.”

Gold washingClarissa and Christian Loretz with Lian, Elina, Mael and Andrin “We, as a family, love spending time in nature. We can also recommend the gold washing to all fans of
adventure. With some luck, one can sieve genuine pieces of gold from the water, directly at the Rhine. It requires the correct technique and a little patience to get lucky. The native gold panners are happy to show you how it is being done.”
