Total suspended solid is the residue retained on a glass fibre filter disk with a specific pore size, measured after being dried at a specific temperature. The filter used for the determination of total suspended solid in this experiment is glass fibre filter disk with pore size 12.5cm. In order to reduce the error, the glass fibre filter disk was dried in the oven at 103 O C to 105 O C until the weight of the glass fibre filter disk no longer changes. Before weight, the glass fibre filter was cooled in dessicator. When weight of the filter is constant, 10 ml of the homogenize water sample was filtered using getle suction and 10 ml of distilled water was used to wash the glass filter disk. Make sure that the water sample use to filter is homogenize. According to John, the TSS analytical method uses a predetermined volume from the original water sample obtained while the sample is being mixed with a magnetic stirrer. In this experiment, centrifuging method or Getle suction was use during the filteration because the water sample containing an excessive amount suspended matter and containing colloidal matter are difficult to filter. Then, the glass fibre filter disk was dried in oven at 103 O C to 105 o C to remove moisture, so there is no water. The increase in weight of the glass filter disk represents the total suspended solid. The result was produce depend on pore size of the glass fibre filter disk. Therefore, the total suspended solid in this experiment is 8800 mg/L using the formula below : TOTAL SUSPENDED SOLID = A + B C x10 6 = 41.074240.9862 10 X 10 6 = 8800 mg/L Where:
