The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a world-renowned zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one place. Colossal Cave Mountain Park has been home, shelter, hideout, challenging workplace, exciting playground, tranquil retreat for over a thousand years. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the Park showcases crystal-filled Colossal Cave and historic La Posta Quemada Ranch, a working ranch for over 120 years. Spend the day: take a Cave tour, browse in the historical museums, relax in the wooded picnic areas, hike, saddle up for a trail ride, sluice for gemstones and explore our two charming Southwestern gift shops.

Mission San Xavier del Bac has been called the Sistine Chapel of the United States and is located on the Tohono O’odham Reservation, San Xavier District (Community of Wa:k). The mission, also known as the “White Dove of the Desert,” has been acclaimed as one of the finest examples of mission architecture in the United States. It is a blending of Moorish, Byzantine and Mexican renaissance. The mission is over 200 years old and is presently undergoing exterior restoration. The museum

Old Pueblo Trolley, Inc., is an all volunteer operating transit museum dedicated to providing information about the history of transit in Tucson. The museum offers regularly scheduled service in two historic streetcars, on track with overhead power, as well as special tours and excursions. The museum is popular with young children and the young in heart. We enjoy conducting many tours from our schools and retirement communities.

cars operate from that location up 4th Avenue, through the 4th Avenue Business District, then east on University to the University of Arizona Main Gate.

The Pima County Fairgrounds not only hosts the best fair in Arizona, but they are also the venue for a number of different events, including horse and livestock shows, gun shows, dog shows, RV rallies, weddings, equipment sales and concerts for every musical taste. Located on the Fairgrounds, Southwestern International Raceway (SIR), is the best place in Southern Arizona for drag racing. Saguaro national Park (east)

Saguaro National Park East is home to the tall, majestic, mysterious, whimsical saguaro cactus—the symbol of the American Southwest. Protected here since 1933, the saguaro, and many other fascinating desert plants and animals are found in their natural setting against the background of the tall, rugged Rincon Mountains. Activities include wildlife and bird watching, backcountry camping, hiking, picnicking, photography, horseback riding, bicycling and scenic driving.

Saguaro National Park West—added to Saguaro National Park in 1961—the Tucson Mountain District is a superb example of a saguaro forest. Many of the unique species of plants and animals found in the Sonoran Desert, along with petroglyphs of the Hohokam people may be viewed within the park. Southern Arizona Transportation Museum: This small but excellent museum is located on the former Southern Pacific Depot site. Four buildings in all, this site is a recently (2004 by the City of Tucson) renovated Tucson treasure. The museum is a division of the nonprofit, Old Pueblo Trolley, Inc. A pioneer in transportation history in Tucson, the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum offers year-round tours of the Depot site, as well as seasonal historic downtown walking tours. The museum also hosts a variety of special events, an annual holiday event, lecture series, anniversary celebrations and other community programs.

Patagonia Lake State Park Tucked away in the rolling hills of southeastern Arizona is a hidden treasure. Patagonia Lake State Park was established in 1975 as a state park and is an ideal place to find whitetail deer roaming the hills and great blue herons walking the shoreline. The campground overlooks a 265-acre man-made lake where anglers catch crappie, bass, bluegill, and catfish. Trout is stocked every three weeks from October through March. The tracks of the New Mexico/Arizona railroad lie beneath the lake and remnants of the old historic line may be found at the Nature Conservancy in Patagonia. Hikers can stroll along the beautiful creek trail and see a variety of birds such as the

canyon towhee, Inca dove, vermilion flycatcher, black vulture, and several species of hummingbirds. The park offers a beach, picnic area with ramadas, tables & grills, a creek trail, boat ramps, a marina, and the Lakeside Market. There is a campground, boat-in camp sites, restrooms, showers, and a dump station. The Lakeside Market offers boat rentals, fishing licenses, bait, ice, and more.
