A noun is the part of speech used to describe a person, place, thing, quality, or action.
The types of nouns we are going to look at are: common vs. proper and concrete vs. abstract
Common vs. Proper Nouns

Common noun = names a general item; does not require capitalization
Proper noun = names specific item; requires capitalization
*Exception* = remember common nouns can be capitalized at the beginning of a sentence!

Concrete or Abstract??
A concrete noun is a noun that describes a material or tangible object. This is something you can physically touch.
An abstract noun is a noun that describes an intangible concept such as love or envy. These are nouns that you can not physically touch.
