Dear church family,
A recent article in USA Today listed four jobs (positions) that
they thought might not exist
in 15 years: small-time lawyers, winemakers, obituary writers,
and Sunday School
teachers. Sunday School teachers? That was based on a decline in
attendance, for the
last several years, for most all denominations. Decline in
Southern Baptist churches was
about 8% from the previous year.
Heres what I know. If you starve anything long enough it will
die. Some churches are
starving their Sunday School and death is inevitable. Others are
vibrant and doing well
because they are being fed and nourished. According to LifeWay
research, for 85% of
churches that are experiencing growth, Sunday School (small
group Bible study) was a
primary Step 2 strategy for assimilating and discipling people.
(Step 1 being worship
attendance).
Keep these things in mind:
1. Since we have dedicated space for groups, we can somehow make
space to continue
to have Bible study for all age groups, to start new groups and
reach people.
2. Parents need help, especially today, in teaching Bible
knowledge and spiritual
disciplines.
3. People need relationships. People can know others and be
known. Thats
community. Thats why we emphasize grouping people together by
similar ages or
interests.
4. The strategy of Sunday School (LIFE Groups) is Biblical. It
is a way to express
obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). We are
teaching others,
reaching, and influencing the next generation.
Is it dead? I dont think so! At the same time, we need to make
sure we are feeding ours. It
needs some attention because it is wilting a bit in some places.
We each one need to pray,
get serious about making it a priority. We need a couple of new
class leaders/ teachers. If
you are attending, ask your teacher what you could do to help
lighten his/her load.
All our northern guests are gone back. Let me encourage you to
be faithful over these
summer months. I will continue in the book of Acts, on Sunday
mornings, to coincide with
the television series AD. I hope to see you here.
In Christ,
Bro. DarrolBro. DarrolBro. DarrolBro. Darrol

Hello Family,
May is here, summer is right around the corner, and I am about
to be a married man! Id like to start
off by saying thank you so much to everyone who has supported
Laura and I through gifts, service,
and prayer in this large planning time of our lives. We have
been so blessed by our church family,
and look forward to seeing you here June 6th for the
ceremony!
On April 24-25 we had our first O2 Youth Overnight Lock-In, and
it was a great success! We had
over 30 students in attendance participating in tons of games,
food, and worship. Id like to say a
special thank you to Maureen Bullock, Wyatt White, Laura Stuck
(soon to be Coon), Brandy Bowlin,
Joel Campos, Matt Coon and Mike Harney for leading these
students from 7AM to 7PM! We
couldnt have done it without you!
In addition to starting camp preparations, we are also going to
be saying good bye to the class of
2015. On Sunday, May 24th, we will be honoring this years
graduates in our service. If anyone you
know is graduating from high school, college, or trade school,
please call the church office so that we
can recognize their accomplishments on Graduation Sunday.
Baccalaureate will be held May 27th,
the following Wednesday, at the United Methodist Church at 6:00
PM.
Teenagers are not only the leaders of the church tomorrow, but
the strength of the church today. God
has always done an amazing work in the hearts and minds of
students at camp, and I am sure that He
will continue. It humbles me to be a part of their discipleship,
and I thank you for your support and
prayer.
Keep fishing,
-Bro. Brian
With summer right around the bend, we are preparing for
another exciting year at Super Summer Camp hosted by the
Florida Baptist Convention at Lake Yale Conference Center
outside of Leesburg. This years theme is
MARVEL-ous Light; where we will be learning
how to be a Daniel and stand firm in the midst of
persecution.
I would like to give a huge thank you from the leaders and
students if you or your class has participated in our
fundraising
efforts. Without your support, this camp experience would
not
be possible. We covet your prayers during this time for both
protection and spiritual awakening for all the students,
leaders
and families during this time of opportunity.

WMU News
Susan Safrit, author of Paw Prints visited our WMU last year and
was very impressed by our pillow ministry to heart patients. She
wanted to help in some way
Recently, Susan gave us some copies of Paw Prints to sell with
all proceeds going to the WMU Ministry. This is a great devotional
type of book you will enjoy. She suggested a donation of ten
dollars for each book. These books are available in the church
office or call Gloria Smith at (863) 635-7282.

Thankfulness. It is a word that has deeper meaning every year
that we have the privilege to serve children who come to us with
nothing. And yet, when they leave us to be reunited with their
families or find forever homes they do so with everything. They
leave with the hope of Christ, full
bellies and a fantastic future. That is a good day for us and
one in which we are thankful!
At Florida Baptist Childrens Homes, Orphans Heart & The
Porch Light, we are thankful for each of you who believe in what
God can do through our ministry! We appreciate every diaper that
was donated through our recent annual Diaper Drive! What a
practical way to help with the ever-present needs of babies.
In recent weeks, we have been talking about a subject that was
and is hard: domestic child sex trafficking. We know it affected
you as much as it did us because we heard from you about it. The
truth is, child sex trafficking continues to grow in Florida. When
I think about the children who are being victimized right now, I
fall to my knees and ask God to please allow us to be His hands and
feet to rescue and restore these innocent and precious girls. We
are thankful for those who have answered the call with us to help
build safe homes and make sure more girls do not fall prey to this
horrific crime. You can be the one who makes that difference by
partnering with us through your gifts.
Just yesterday, I received a note from a young man named Collin
who spent a year in our care. He said that we will always be a part
of his life. Collin said he learned that family does not always
have to be blood and that you can never be too broken to be whole
again. Collin is an example of a real life that was changed. I am
thankful for his life and your help that made it possible.

Thank You Note
Dear Church Family,
Mark and I, on behalf of the family would like to
thank all those involved in the lunch prepared after
our mothers funeral. The meal was delicious. It
means so much to us that our church family
remembered us at this difficult time. So many of you
took the time to send flowers and cards full of
comforting words, food and lifting us up in prayer.
We also want to especially thank Pastor Darrol Hood
for his spiritual counsel and services at the funeral of
our mother. Your guidance is genuinely appreciated.
Each and every one of you were a tremendous help in
your own special way. During times like these we
learn how much you all mean to us.
In Christs love,
Mark and Julie Granger
To my Church Family,
I want to thank you for all of the prayers, cards,
phone calls and visits during and after my surgery.
I also want to thank Cliff Lightsey and John
Cavanaugh for coming to the hospital and praying
with me and being with Cheryl during my surgery.
I am truly blessed to be a part of this church body
and appreciate the love and encouragement I have
received from each and everyone of you.
May God Bless you,
Larry Hadden
