Oil prices have shown volatility over the years, and the industry faces some uncertainty in the short term. However, with sustained demand for energy from both the major and emerging economies, the long-term outlook for the industry remains positive.

Today, Singapore is host to some of the world’s largest oil rig builders such as Keppel and Sembcorp Marine, which provide critical marine and offshore engineering activities in the assembly and maintenance of FPSO conversions, ship repairs, offshore support vessels and jack-up rigs. Over the years, companies in Singapore have managed to build up quality ship repair capabilities as well as know-how in the construction of oil rigs. Approximately 70 per cent of the world’s jack-up rigs used for oil exploration and drilling are produced here.

As a major transshipment port, Singapore has also attracted upstream and downstream oil & gas players to establish their production, procurement and supply chain management base here. Major oil & gas specialist equipment companies such as Halliburton, Cameron, FMC Technologies, Baker Oil Tools and Schlumberger, have established their regional headquarters and critical manufacturing lines in Singapore to produce sophisticated components such as drill bits, wellheads, downhole equipment and production equipment.

Other advantages of SCR’s GEL are its self-healing characteristics and its similar specific gravity to Isopar M. SCR’s GEL adheres excellently with the PU skin used in conventional streamer jackets. This enables the section to remain operational even with jacket damage as long as the wires and stress members are not damaged. This makes it impossible to discharge fill fluid into the environment. Since no immediate action is necessary during minor damage on the streamer, it greatly improves safety for the crew operating the streamer.
