BANDS With six ensembles serving nearly 700 students, the University of Central Florida Bands program is designed to provide a musical outlet for wind and percussion players throughout the university community, regardless of major, as well as professional training for music education and performance majors. No audition is required to become a member. Comprised of both non-music majors and music majors, the Concert Band meets in fall and spring on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-4:50 p.m. and the University Band meets in spring on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00-10:20 a.m. Both present two to three concerts each semester. Members receive one hour of academic credit for each semester of successful participation. The ensembles also serve as a minor ensemble for music majors. Course Number: MUN 3123 SYMPHONIC BAND The Symphonic Band is an auditioned wind band that performs a varied repertoire of wind band literature. The ensemble presents two to three concerts each semester, both locally and regionally. Auditions for membership in the Symphonic Band take place at the beginning of each semester. The ensemble rehearses on Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-5:00 p.m. The Symphonic Band serves as a major ensemble for music majors, and members receive one hour of academic credit for each semester of successful participation. Course Number: MUN 3133 AUDITIONS: AUGUST 21-22, 2021 WIND ENSEMBLE The Wind Ensemble is comprised of the finest wind and percussion students at UCF. Performing literature of the highest caliber, the Wind Ensemble performs locally, regionally and internationally. Membership in the Wind Ensemble is by audition only, with auditions taking place at the beginning of each semester. The ensemble rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:30-3:20 p.m. and presents two to three concerts each semester.
