Winter 2019

Over the past year, KCDA has added five new contract categories, awarded a modular building contract, improved functionality of our website, reduced backorders, and hired a new Chief Financial Officer. Looking ahead to 2020, we expect to see rising student enrollment, robust K12 construction spending, and an increased presence from out-of-state cooperatives. Given the rising tariffs and the possibility of higher interest rates in the near term, we will focus our efforts on growing our warehouse business, improving member satisfaction, and lowering costs.

On the warehouse side, our key initiatives will include improving our search speed, developing a school supply kit program, and using social media to pull more users into our website. Other initiatives will include adding new capital equipment to drive warehouse efficiencies, improving inventory turns, and streamlining our vendor ordering procedures.

On the contract side, we will evaluate new bid opportunities including parking lot sealing, storage sheds, fixed permanent signage, human centric lighting, irrigation systems, and roll-up blinds. We will continue to collaborate with our vendor partners to drive our contract sales. We will work with Perkins Coie to ensure that our bid language and terms comply with recent statutory changes. Finally, we will ensure that our members have access to the best AEPA contracts available for administrative software, athletic supplies, copiers, furniture, LED lighting, roofing, synthetic turf, scoreboards, and track surfaces.

Another Successful KCDA Vendor Expo! This September’s KCDA Vendor Expo was a resounding success with 113 people attending from school districts and other public agencies throughout our state. This year’s event set an all-time high attendance mark for member participation since KCDA began holding the Vendor Expo back in 2005. Among those in attendance at year’s Expo were participants from Washington school districts and representatives from local cities, architectural firms, fire departments, libraries,

housing departments, parks departments and colleges. This wide range of attendees is a very positive sign that KCDA is attracting and building new member support from outside our traditional K-12 member base.

The follow up surveys submitted by our Exhibitors this year were very positive supporting KCDA’s efforts in hosting this Expo. 100% of those Vendors surveyed said they would return again next year in 2020!

We will look forward to seeing at our 2020 Vendor Expo! Detail on next year’s date will follow in the Spring of 2020.
