A cross between GSL-1 X B. hirta followed by pedigree

• Duration : 140-150 days
• Resistance: Moderately resistant to insect-pests and Alternaria blight
• Area of Adaption: Jammu, Samba, Kathua and some parts of Udhampur and Riasi
Districts.
2. Rice
i) Ranbir Basmati
a) Pedigree and Method of development
A secondry selection from Basmati 370 followed by pure line selection
b) Salient Features
• Productivity : 25-30 q/ha
• Duration : 120-125 days (20-25 days earlier to Basmati 370)
• Quality : At par with Basmati 370
• Area of Adaption : Non Basmati growing areas in mid hills of Rajouri,
Udhampur & Poonch district in addition to Jammu, Samba and Kathua
ii) Saanwal Basmati

pure line selection

• Productivity : 35 q/ha
• Duration : 140-145 days (7-10 days
earlier to Basmati 370)
• Quality: At par with Basmati 370
• Area of Adaption: Irrigated areas of Jammu,
Samba & Kathua
• Other characteristics :Moderately resistant to shattering, slightly
responsive to fertilizers, compact & straight panicles
