Youth

Steven Spielberg was born on December 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was young, he moved several times and spent part of his youth in Arizona. There, he became one of the youngest television directors for Universal. A popular television film, Duel, gave him the opportunity to start directing for cinema.

Apprentice

Spielberg's first major directorial effort was The Sugarland Express, a film that marked him as a rising star. But it was his next film that made him an international superstar among directors: Jaws. This classic shark movie got him credited with starting a summer blockbuster tradition. Spielberg pioneered special effects with his film, E.T.
