An emerging leader in the field of cellular therapies and ssue engineering. Years with Lattice: 1 Other Roles with Lattice: I started out as the Executive Assistant for our CEO. How many years have you worked in this industry? 1 Did you work in other fields before biotech? I come from the fields of Academic HR and Administration, Sales, and Parenting. What do you enjoy most about your work? That Human Resources serves as an advocate of both the business and the employees. All of the interesting things in my job happen at the intersection of where the needs of the business and the employees meet. What 3 things do you believe will be most critical for Lattice’s success in the next couple years? 1. Attracting, recruiting, and retaining the right mix of talented people as we grow. 2. For the entire Lattice Biologics team to operate as if Quality isn’t simply a department at Lattice, but that it’s a way of doing business. 3. In the spirit of becoming a Canadian-based company, I believe Lattice employees simply must celebrate and honor Islander Day, St. Jean Baptiste Day, and Aboriginal Day. (Editor’s note: good thinking, Port! Our Canadian-born Director of Finance, Jason Sellakumar, thanks you in advance!) What do you most want to accomplish through your work at Lattice? More than your spouse, more than your kids - your coworkers are the people you spend the majority of your time with on a daily basis. I want to be a part of the process that creates a culture at Lattice Biologics where the employees think, “I can’t wait to get to work” (usually, at least - not everyday - that would just be a weird). What is the greatest advice you can offer someone interested in pursuing a career in this field? With any job, find your passion, and then it’s not just a job, but you’ve found your career. What is your biggest personal goal outside of the office? To actually complete one of the many unfinished knitting projects lying around my house. Portia M. An emerging leader in the field of cellular therapies and tissue engineering.

Years with Lattice: 1

Other Roles with Lattice: I started out as the Executive Assistant for our CEO.

How many years have you worked in this industry? 1

Did you work in other fields before biotech?

Our Canadian-born Director of Finance, Jason Sellakumar, thanks you in advance!)

What do you most want to accomplish through your work at Lattice? More than your spouse, more than your kids - your coworkers are the people you spend the majority of your time with on a daily basis. What totally different job would you have in another life?I would have run Hypatia’s PR department and could have prevented her death by stoning, which would have, in turn, prevented female philosophers from being eliminated from the history of Philosophy. I am still (obviously) a tad bitter over this, but 1600 years just isn’t enough time to cope with this slight... It’s a process.(Editor’s note: Look it up. Oh, and we love Portia.)

What Biologics Fun Fact do you want to see in one of our upcoming newsletters? Why is the largest cell in the human body the female egg and the smallest the male sperm?

What is a Fun Fact about you? Purple has been my favorite color since I was a teenager because it was also Donny Osmond’s favorite color.

Past Career Highlights: • Director of Human Resources for Lattice

Biologics (I remember no job before this one.)

Education & Certifications: • CAHR, Certified Associate in Human Resources• Business Marketing Certificate - Ivy Technical

College

Accomplishments:• Expanded our Employee Benefits Package by

introducing a 401(k) retirement savings plan, a Flex Spending Account (FSA) for 2016, as well as a Life-Work Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

• Developed an employee onboarding program that demonstrates Lattice Biologics’ commitment to our employees from day one.

• Successfully identified a vendor capable of providing us with a soda machine in the break room. (Woo hoo!)

Career Mission: To bring a culture to Lattice Biologics that gives employees a place where they have a voice, are respected, and have opportunities for growth. I want this culture to be responsible for attracting and attaining great talent as well as for creating a fun, happy, and exciting work environment.
