1. Brief Overview

(1) You may operate the printer as simply as though you are outputting to a desktop printer from your personal computer.

(2) You may print only as many garments as required, avoiding excess inventories.

(3) By printing garments without screens, this printer is most suitable for making samples and short runs of under 100 T-Shirts.

(4) No additional cost are incurred for changing printing sizes from childrensto XXXL.

(5) Using textile pigment inks releives you from a cumbersome steaming process.

(6) Discharge prints by applying color-discharge liquid…*In the case of discharge printing, the content of formaldehyde exceeds the legal standard. It is suggested, therefore, to wash the clothing with water before wearing.

2. Special Features of Printer System

(1) The flat-bed type ink-jet printer design enables you to print a wide variety of goods up to 5” thick.(2) A completely digitized system enables you to perform quick response services that an over-the-counter business requires. (3) Only a simple fixing process by heat press is sufficient after printing. 2-1. Features of Printer (1) Coloring(1) High image quality prints are created by use of print heads that

have a resolution of 720dpi x 720dpi, with variable dot functions.(2) Simple graphics can be printed in less than one minute at 360 x

540 dpi. High resolution printing take around 5 minutes for A3 size.* Print speed is highly dependent on resolution and how dense you’d like to print.

(3) The use of a table heater (standard equipment) enables you to obtain high quality color printing results.

generally used for printing T-shirts. As a special binder is contained in the ink, the printing is completed only by heat pressing to cross-link the pigments after printing.

A-1. Use of the Heater Plate

- Stabilization of PrintingMoisture contained in the cloth changes with humidity, the heater reduces the moisture in the cloth and assures a uniform quality of the finish.

- Improvement of Printed Color DensityExtra moisture in printed ink is dried. Therefore, the pigment of the ink is kept on the surface making the printed color stronger.

- Improved HandlingExcess moisture in the printed ink is dried. Therefore, the smudges during handling of printed products are reduced.

A-2. Discharging

- Discharge Liquid enables the user to print on dark colored cloth.

As the cloth is dyed with dyestuff, it is possible to extract color substances with chemicals. Some pigment content are too stable against chemicals and will not decolorize.

Utilizing this difference of nature, it is possible to print on the cloth of deep color.

Color discharging may not be possible depending on the types of dyes.And even the color is discharged, the resultant color is light and decolorized. Depending on the kinds and composition of the dyes, the extracting effect may be variable. Even within the same cloth, the discharging effect could be uneven due to difference of lots, etc.

How much does pigment ink cost?5

When printing pigment is used, it is basically possible to print on whatever material so long as the color does not exude. However, the fastness of the color cannot be guaranteed and you are suggested to make testing at each time on the necessary items at your own responsibility.

Is it possible to print on materials other than cotton, namely on nylon, polyester and others?

Testing is made on cotton knit fabrics. Washing fastness of class 4 to 5 is observed. Presently, only fastness to abrasion stain is class 2 or less in both wet and dry states. By applying over-coating, such fastness could be improved.

Is the fastness of pigment printing sufficiently strong?

If the head gap is 4 mm or less, it is possible to print on suchmaterial. The bigger head gap could cause mist or streaks.

Is it possible to print on materials with uneven surface (with buttons, with collar)?

With discharging liquid, it is possible to print on deep colored T-shirt. However, depending on some kinds of T-shirts, discharge printing may not be impossible.

As we use a special type resin that is not made into film unless heat is applied, it will not cause clogging ascompared with other types of ink. However, routine care is necessary as resins and cotton dusts are liable to stick on the wipers and around the capping and the heads.

Doesn’t the binder in the pigment ink cause clogging?

When printing pigment is used, the processes of printing->drying->baking (heat press) are required.Baking is a process to “burn onto the surface of the media” to fix the special binder contained in the pigment on the cloth.This is completed in 1 minute or two by setting the surface temperature of the printed part at around 325F of dry heat.

What is the post-treatment of pigment printing? How is it performed?

Yes. They are reactive dyes for printing cotton, etc., acid dyes for silk and wool, and disperse dyes for polyester. Special knowledge on dyeing is needed.

Our discharging liquid is adjusted for inkjet use and the generally available discharging agents cannot be drained through the inkjet. Further, they could damage the printing head. It is recommended, therefore, not to use them.

Is it possible to use the discharging agent generally available in the market?

After completion of discharging, it is necessary to drain the discharging liquid from the head and fill the cleaning liquid.At the time of the subsequent use, follow the process in reverseorder. The printing will be done after filling the discharging liquid. (No need when discharging is not made.)*The discharging liquid is alkaline and needs routine maintenance.

How to make the maintenance of discharging?

The post-treatment after discharging has to be performed by pressing for around 1 minute at a temperature of around 325F. The color of the dye will be extracted. Baking machine is inferior in discharging efficiency to heat press.
