In January and Febru-ary many parents will receive a survey in their mailbox from Alberta Education. Please take a few moments to com-plete this survey - your participation is very im-portant to us.
The responses collected in the survey are provid-ed to and reviewed by all school staff, the board of trustees and the Alberta Government so that we can learn what is working in schools and what needs improvement. Your answers to the ques-tions in the survey will be considered in school and divisional planning and therefore will have a direct impact on your child’s educational experi-ence. This important annual survey provides you with another way to be involved in decision mak-ing at your child’s school. The survey is mailed to parents in grades 4, 7 and 10 (unless the school has fewer than 120 students in grades 4-12 in which case the survey will be expanded to include all students and parents). To ensure we receive as many responses back from parents as possible, the survey comes with a postage paid return envelope. Thank you in advance for your time spent in com-pleting the survey. Through working and learning together, your input and involvement makes our schools great places to grow, learn and be. Paul Bennett Superintendent of Schools Peace River School Division No. 10

Nods for Mods! This past month we had a student’s name drawn for the Subway gift card. Students’ names are put in a draw box when they hand in completed modules. Way to Go! Big THANK YOU to Subway for their generous contribution to our Nods for Mods program!

Spotlight on Health and Safety Kristy Shilka, PRSD Health & Safety Coordinator
The internet plays a large role in our education, our careers and our everyday
lives. The internet provides us with the means to connect, collaborate, re-
search, learn, socialize and communicate with others in real-time. While this
provides great opportunities for society, it also poses certain risks.
As we cannot always protect our students from all of the dangers of the inter-
net, it is important that we be aware of what they view and what they share
about themselves online. In our schools and at home, it is essential that we
educate our children about internet safety, model and encourage safe practices and positive digital citizen-
ship. Technology safety is a shared responsibility and we value and appreciate our Technology Depart-
ment, school staff and the support and partnership from our parents and school communities.
