Description

This log book has been designed to be used in conjunction with the PAD to enable students to

identify surgical experiences throughout the programme. The object of using the logbook is for

students to record all surgical scrub experience gained during their surgical placements. This is in

line with regulatory body requirements.

Students are required to keep a tally of each case that they have been scrubbed for and keep a

running total of the number of procedures for both Paediatric and Adult cases. Each case also gives

an indication of the level being minor (MI), intermediate (I) or major (MA). This may vary between

Hospitals and is only to give you a rough guide of the level of involvement. *Do not insert any

identifying patient details (Data Protection).

The logbook although forming no part in the assessment of the candidate's practice, will be called in

at the end of each Surgical Placement; students will also be expected to produce the logbook when

visited by their personal tutor/course leader.
