Education

Born on September 26, 1964, Dino obtained a bachelors degree in composition in 1987; in 1990 he graduated with a masters degree in classical piano; and, in 2000 he completed a post-graduate degree in jazz music (with honors 10/10) at the Conservatory San Pietro a Majella in Naples, Italy under the guidance of M ° Bruno Tommaso. Dino is the 1984 Winner of the Euterpe Music Competition of Pompei as both, pianist and composer.

Teaching

Beginning in 1984, Dino continues to perform in concerts both, as a jazz musician and performer as classical pianist. He is also committed to the profession of teacher of jazz piano . Dino is a published author of several books and educational methods . He has held two conservatory teaching posts since 2013, teaching jazz piano at the Conservatory S. Giacomantonio of Cosenza and at the Coservatory Nicola Sala of Benevento.

Dino has played at numerous venues in Italy, in the United States of America at the famous Blue Room jazz club located within the American Jazz Museum at Kansas City. Project and Career Highlights

o In addition to being an active jazz composer , Dino has written transcriptions of classical pieces for choir and orchestra that were performed in several concerts beginning first in 1991, as well as some pieces bridging styles grounded in jazz and contemporary music that were performed by classical musicians 2003.

o In 1994 Dino releases his debut recording titled

electronic press kitDINO MASSA"Girotondo" which makes the "Top Jazz 94" recordings lists organized by Musica Jazz magazine in the new talent category.

o In 1996, records "Tratti di incontri straordinari” (Polosud Rec., 1995) with the group Agca (including Daniele Sepe and Giulio Martino) that is judged one of the best albums of the year by the newspaper L'Unità. In the same year, Dino performs with the group Agca in the television broadcast on Raidue “Cercando cercando”.

o In 1997, Dino released the second CD under his own name titled "Il medico dei pazzi" which centered upon jazz trio reinterpretations of Neapolitan songs.

o In 1998 he was a member of the Jazz Orchestra of the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella in Naples, directed by Bruno Tommaso, with whom he performs in some festivals. Dino also begins work with the music magazine Basimedia (Panastudio), for which he wrote a didactic column entitled "The piano in jazz."

o In 1999 Dino wrote "Jazz language for piano" which was published by Sagi Music and distributed by Carisch.

o In 2000 Dino wrote a book of songs for piano and soprano sax "Jazz duet" which was published by Sagi Music and distributed by Carisch. And, he released his third album titled, "Punti di vista", featuring solo piano.

o In 2003 he released his fourth CD, "Un pò come… noi” in a trio with Piero Leveratto and Claudio Borrelli.

electronic press kitDINO MASSAo In 2004, several pieces from his recordings have been broadcast on radio broadcasts on Radiouno and Radiotre.

o In 2006 and 2007 Dino teaches in the international workshop of Teano Jazz. And, in the same year he released his fifth CD, "Strani effetti della globalizazione sulla musica Afro-Americana" recorded by his seven piece ensemble.

o In 2007, pieces from his latest album were broadcast by Radiotre. Several of the tracks from from the album were also included along with an interview of Dino in Jazz Magazine.

o In 2008 Dino released his sixth album recorded in quartet "Anime diverse."

o In 2010 he released his seventh album "Storie di altri luoghi," and one of his songs is released on a compilation with the likes of G. Benson, E. Rava, S. Bollani and many others. Dino publishes two more books of didactic pedagogy ("The young jazz player" and "The Jazz Book").

o In 2012, excerpts from his album "Anime diverse" were broadcast by "Jazz & Bossa Radio" of Puerto Rico.

o In 2013 he participated in the realization of CD “Rock Vs Jazz” , jazz music meets rock music.

o In 2015 after several little tours in Europe, he performed in USA at the American Jazz Museum located in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District of Kansas City publicized by NBC television network affiliate, KSHB 41.
