Brush of Excellence AwardOn February 19, 2015, Sam Koltinsky,filmmaker for America'sDarling documentary about the life ofJay "Ding" Darling, presented theRefuge and the "Ding" DarlingWildlife Society with a Brush ofExcellence Award. Sam is awardingframed paintbrushes used by artist andpolitical cartoonist Darling to deservingorganizations nationwide thatdemonstrate a commitment, as did"Ding," to stewardship of the land andculture. He made the presentations,also with awards to SCCF and theRobert Rauschenberg Foundation, at thehistoric fish house on Captiva Islandthat Darling used as a studio duringvisits. DDWS made possible nearly$80,000 in funding for America's Darling - the film's biggestsupporter.
