some of the major points:• Social media has shifted the “balance of

power” of news reporting from the large

networks to regular citizens

• The audience is now “active” and not

“passive.”

• Marketers may have to shift their social

media strategy due to “citizen-style

journalism.”

• Social Media is the ultimate collaboration

(2015), about 70% of all adults have a high-

speed Internet connection in their home.

That's up from 47% in 2007.

• Being authentic and honest are critical traits

over social media.

company’s online marketing strategy

• They can be produced very quickly unlike

engines because they are filled with “real”

content, not just keywords.

and update 2-3 times per week.

Digital Media and politics• Campaigns are increasingly sending texts to

supporters.

• It pushes the message directly to the

supporter’s phones.

• Obama, Romney and Hilary Clinton have all

used text messaging in their campaigns and

usage is on the rise.

• Politicians in South Korea are also using

social media very effectively to attract

younger, progressive voters.
