This portion of the book is dedicated to the digital paintings that i have done over the years. There are all drawing that are done on the computer using a wacom tablet. I use a reference photo of the person I’m drawing and then I draw them and add my twist or flare to the picture.

You rarely see well preserved artifacts and statues of african cultures. So I decided to do a redition of old roman and greek stat-ues but instead of being the usaual person of greek decent, I did one of someone of African American decent. The words are latin for the “Lost Beauty”.

This is a play of the statue of Nefertiti. Instead of having the head dress that most queens and kings of eygpt had, in this portrait the status is her hair acting as a head dress. This is a social com-mentary on how in today’s society african american woman place importance on the hair.

Digital Photo Manipulation

These are different from my previous drawing because these are actual photos that I have added to. None of these photos are drawn from stratch like the previous ones in this book. I have just mostly add ele-ments to existing photos. I believe that a photo should strike you. There should be a very strong element of dreamlike state to it. This is what i try to create when working with real images.
