DIGIPAK

Page 2: digipak

Digipaks have a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. It means the cd comes in a cardboard flip-out case rather than a standard plastic hinged case.Digipak-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums and the tall DVD Digipak (DVDigipak) is used as a premium package for DVDs and DVD sets.

What it consists on :

Photographs and Pictures – usually at least one will be of the artist(s) and another might be of a scene that reflects the mood / genre of the record.

There will also be a side dedicated to a track List including song writing credits.

One box with a Disk impression (perhaps a circle over an innocuous background that shows where the disc will go or alternatively the design on the actual disc).

A Band/Artist information section (names, instruments, additional musicians, Copyright and year of release etc.).

Barcode and QR and a Logo for the record company.

Possibly reference to other albums by the same artist(s)

Digipaks include: Membership postcard/flier and or a Free image/poster

DRAKE- TAKE CARE ALBUM

The portrait of drake is focused in the middle where he is avoiding eye contact with the camera. The facial expressions coming from the artist portrays a sense of loneliness and sadness suggesting the album may contains songs that confide in his emotions. Drakes costume in the photo is simple he’s wearing a black shirt along with a gold chain matching the theme of the albums cover black/gold.

Drake does not advertise his name on his album as some artist may do. This connotes an well known famous name where he is very well known in the music industry as a rapper.

The colours used for the digi pack sticks to a particular theme mostly focused on this rich sense predominantly gold. The historic paintings behind him show a different side to Drake seeing that he is a rapper thereby not corroborating with his usual life style. The colours sued add sophistication as well as this classical look which will attract the audience and make them believe there is something different to this album.

On the table there is an owl, I believe it is there for purpose in this case it represents Drake seeing that OVO stands for October's Very Own as Drake was born in October. OVO is the annual festival that Drake holds in Toronto in which it is very common to see drake advertising the owl in many forms on print outs, shirts, social networks ect.

RHIANNA- LOUD ALBUMThe digipack has been dominated with the colour red which in this case could possibly represent love, passion, fantasy ,pain or romance . Rhianna's red hair and lips is also very iconic and impacted many young girls in whom also chose to dye their hair red seeing that it was a popular look. The colour also plays a big role in giving clues of what the album will consist on. Rhianna chose to go for a very feminine appeal more or less creating a sense of romance in which she may tell a some kind of story within her music.

Rhianna is well known for her music but also for her good looks, the cover consists of a close up of her face where her red hair and lips stand out hugely. She has her eyes closed which could show a sense of passion and peace yet she could also be scared and fears to open her eyes and face reality.

In the inside cover there is a full image of Rhianna laying down wearing a white dress which is in contrast to the background. Rhiannas white dress may present a purity and innocence relating to her past experience before she fell in love ext.

The CD its self has an imprint of a rose in a very soft peachy colour. This stereotypically presents women who are passionate of flowers and romance. Rhianna is also a big artist in the music industry therefore she wouldn’t need as much text on her digipack. People are aware of whom she is and that she produces pop music there by they don’t need an indication.
