Health & Medicine

Airway management is the first and most critical objective in emergency patient care. This presentation presents simple methods to rapidly identify and assess difficult airway conditions and uses new and upcoming tricks, tools and techniques in airway management, as well as novel ways to use the tools that we already have in place to manage the difficult airway. Less is more as BLS techniques are used to improve ALS airway management of the toughest airway emergencies. This program utilizes the latest research in prehospital airway management, papers from several international anesthesia and difficult airway management societies and dovetails with long-format airway management programs such as SLAM, The Airway Course, EAMC and others.

Learning Objectives: Students will learn:
-The airway algorithm to use in managing any difficult airway scenario.
- Best practices in assessment and anticipation of difficult airway situations.
-The use of new equipment and techniques in difficult airway management.
-The roles and responsibilities of the BLS provider in ALS airway emergencies.
