Mechanical Mouse

It contains a metal or rubber ball on its under side. When the ball is rolled in any direction, sensors inside the mouse detect this motion and move the on-screen mouse pointer in the same direction

The optical-mechanical or optomechanical mouse consists of a ball that rolls one of two wheels inside the mouse. Each wheel contains a circle of holes, allowing an LED light to shine through and be detected by a sensor. As the wheel spins these lights represent an X or Y axis for the mouse pointer on your screen.

This mouse is more accurate than a mechanical mouse that uses only wheels and rollers.

Operating an opto-mechanical mouse.

1.moving the mouse turns the ball.2.X and Y rollers grip the ball and transfer movement3.Optical encoding disks include light holes.4.Infrared LEDs shine through the disks.5.Sensors gather light pulses to convert to X and Y vectors.

An optical computer mouse uses a light source, typically an LED, and a light detector, such as an array of photodiodes, to detect movement relative to a surface.

It is an alternative to the mechanical mouse, which uses moving parts to sense motion.

Laser MouseA laser mouse is a type of optical mouse that uses laser light to detect mouse movement. Like all optical mouse, the laser mouse has no moving parts inside. Laser is more accurate than the standard optical mouse design, providing for up to 20x greater sensitivity and precision. This improved sensitivity and precision can be key for gaming applications and graphical or engineering design applications, where pinpoint accuracy is important.

Laser mouse have a higher dpi, which means that they can track more dots per inch, which in turn means that they're more sensitive.

Optical Mouse

•Less expensive•LED lights used in tracking movement•Lower resolution (3000 dpi)•Preferred surfaces include mouse pads, non-glossy surfaces

Laser Mouse

•More expensive•Laser diode used in tracking movement•Higher resolution (6000 dpi)•No preferred surfaces or mouse pad required
