Building advertising isn’t commonly used for promoting an album but it’s not unheard of. Buildings like ones belonging to record labels may use advertising for an upcoming album whereas a venue may use advertising to promote a gig. The audience for this poster would be mostly young people but also older people as they will be driving past. If I wanted to aim this kind of advertisement at a younger audience I would place it on record stores and clothing stores with a young demographic.

Here I used the eraser tool to rub out the existing advert. I knew this wouldn’t have to be too neat as my advert would fit over the top. If I were to do it again I would of used the pen tool to create custom selection points to make a neater boarder.

Here I pasted in my poster and resized it using the Ctrl T short cut. From this I realised I would need to use the warp tool to make the poster face the right way

Page 4: Different types of advertisment

Using the warp tool I stretched the poster out, twisting it until it faced the right direction.

If I could do it again I would zoom in whilst using the warp tool to check the lines are straight and that all the white bits have been covered.

Bus stops usually advertise consumerist products such as food. When bus stops are used to promote albums they are within the pop or dance genre, rarely pop-rock.

Bus stops would be a great place to advertise my product as the demographics are usually low to mid teens as they cannot drive. I would target bus stops within city centres as this is usually where my demographic catch the bus.

I used a different technique from the building advertisement due to most of the current advert being white. Using the magic wand tool, I selected the white areas and used the delete key to get rid of the white area. It was then easier to use the eraser tool to remove the rest of the advert.

This technique created a cleaner cut which would lead to more realistic look.

Again, if I would do this again I would use the pen tool to make the selection even neater.

Here I posted my poster in but like the building advertisement it was not facing the right way.

Using the warp tool, I stretched the advert to fit the corners. In my opinion this looks more realistic than the building advertisement and would appeal to my demographic.

If I could do it again, I would zoom in whilst using the warp tool to make sure the lines where straight and meeting the boarders.

The iTunes store is where I will meet the eye of most of my demographic.

Most of demographic consume music digitally rather than physical.

If I were to appeal to my demographic audience more, I would make my product ‘single of the week’; this is were iTunes gives away a promotional single away for free in support of a new album. Since my demographic are in full time education/unemployed, they will not be earning any money so would be more attracted to a free single.

Since the iTunes store is very broad, it is likely my genre would be promoted as much as pop music.

Here, like the building advert I used the eraser tool to remove the current advert.

This was a bad method as it created a messy cut. This could have been avoided by either zooming in whilst erasing the area or using the pen tool for a clean selection.

Here I pasted in my advert and dropped it behind the first layer.

I realised my full advert would not fit within the landscape rectangle so I used the main information.

I were to do this again I would make a separate advert and make it landscape rather than portrait so all in the information would fit within the space.

Here I used the square selection tool to cut out the number one album in the charts to replace it with my front cover.

I also used the spot healing tool to remove the text and replace with the album and album name.

As the spot healing tool did not full remove the text, I used the colour selection tool get the same colour as the background and filled in the remaining space with the brush tool.
