“Rational” is adjective – means (of behaviour, ideas, etc.) based on reason rather than emotion.
No rational person would ever behave like that.There is no rational explanation for his actions.
“Rationale” is noun. (generally followed by behind, for of something) means the principles or reasons which explain a particular decision, course of action, belief.What is the rationale behind these new exams?The student develops a plan of study that includes the courses
and a rationale for the courses he/she has selected.
