Genitiv!
What is Genitiv?• Use genitive case to show possession, for indefinite
time phrases, and for the genitive prepositions • To show possession you will put two nouns next to
each other. The second (the one showing possession which is actually the opposite way from which we do it in English) will be in genitive case.
Der Mann meiner besten Freundin kommt aus Deutschland.
Genitiv Prӓpositionen
• The genitive prepositions are: • anstatt (statt) instead of• trotz inspite of• während during• wegen because of, on account of • They will be followed by genitive case forms: • Wegen des Wetters bleiben wir zu Hause.
Note- the s added to the end of das Wetter. With genitive case you add an s or es to the end of the possessed noun for masculine and neuter words.
